Fortune Telling Robots of India

Apparently, in India, there are robots that will tell you your fortune for a small fee.

And, even stranger, there is a Flickr group dedicated to Fortune Telling Robots of India

If you know anything more about this, please fill me in.

What a wonderful picture - I love robots and India and generally weird things... I don't have much information but I did see a documentary about a major Mela (festival) which showed one of these in use. I think they're just a form of entertainment - not taken particularly seriously. People are pretty impressed by things that appear "high tech". (The same documentary showed people being very smug because they were convinced they had worked out that a wall of death motorbike act was a trick with magnets - something that may give some insight into a culture where technology is now part of life, but magic and spectacle are still admired).
