Handheld Flamer- No pressure tank?

Alright fellow instructables, here's the lowdown:

I'm currently attempting to build a hand-held flamethrower that you only need one hand to use, sort of like a pistol. However, when I was looking at a diagram for a regular Army flamethrower, I realized something: The fuel tanks on the flamethrower werent pressurized, and the fuel was pushed out using a pressurized tank that was fed into the fuel tanks. Now here's my question:

Because I'm just trying to make a little hand-held that I DON'T need to shoot 50 feet, can I skip the pressure tanks and just jump to a commercial fuel source, like one of those miniature camper stove fuel tanks?

Thanks Outdoors!
