Handhend Nintendo 64 (Nicknamed the Retro64!)

Many of you have seen my NES portable Instructable. Hopefully it was helpful to those of you wanting to make your own portables.

Gathering information from www.forums.benheck.com (of which I am a member) I build a Nintendo64 portable. :D N64 is my favorite system, and I figured it'd provide an interesting challenge. I decided to make it the smallest while I'm at it, and this N64 portable is currently the smallest ever made.

You can see the News topic here, (has much more pictures) and the 22-page WIP topic here.

Just so you know in advance, I am not making an Instructable for this one. There is tons of information in the N64 section at the forums, and the N64's board is extremely well-labeled anyway.

Comments? :)

You did an awesome job! I am working on my first portable, what kind of battery are you using and how long does the charge last?
1up (author) in reply to triforceNov 26, 2011. 10:20 PM
It's a 6000mAh, 7.4v, Li-ion camera battery. It lasts about 4 hours.

sorry, i didn't look at your topic on benheck. that is amazing for a portable with internal batteries. what regulator did you use? pth08000 or 08080?
1up (author) in reply to metalcookieApr 10, 2009. 2:13 PM
I used the PTH08080.
metalcookie says: Apr 10, 2009. 1:30 PM

the portable you built looks very professional, and it deserves a lot of admiration.
great work!
1up (author) in reply to metalcookieApr 10, 2009. 2:12 PM
I know that guy. ;) But his isn't an official "portable" by our standards because it doesn't have internal batteries.

Do you have the game bomberman on it?

This is pretty amazing, I love how svelte (if that applies) the machine looks and you've managed to cram everything in there. Finally, Goldeneye can be played on the move.
1up (author) in reply to chiokMar 5, 2009. 8:39 PM
Yeah, that was probably the hardest part of the project, actually. Shutting the case! :P Seriously, there is NO extra room in there. It is packed!
KillerPanda says: Mar 2, 2009. 3:27 PM
The N64 was definitely the best system because no matter what problem it had, it could always be solved either by hitting it, or blowing in the disk drive. Now that's reliability!

lol, same thing with game boy

There was an old couple that had Alzheimer's
The doctor told them to write down anything that they should like do or remember
One day the wife said "i want a bowl of ice cream"
her husband told her"i will go get it for you"
then she said"You remember what the doctor said?,he said to write everything down so that you don't forget it"
he said"its ok, I don't need to write it down" then he went to the kitchen
A few minutes later he came back with a plate with bacon and eggs then his wife said"I knew it,you forgot my toast!"

FREAKING EXTREME! I read your NES ible and was waiting for an N64. N64 is definitely my favorite "classic" console. Might have to try my hand at this. How much did this project cost you? Excellent, excellent job btw!
