Help! Computer won't boot live CD! Ahhh!

So today i recieved my Ubuntu live CD in the mail. So i hooked up the computer that wouldn't boot from its OS (windows xp), poped in the Live CD, and it worked. Hooray! right? wrong! started to install it, but cancelled the installation and shut down the comp for some reason. When i stared it up again later it didn't even try to bbot anything. It just sat there with its giant, ominous lowercase e (yeah, an emachines, i know). My question to the community, is there some sort of boot from CD key command (already tried F2 and F12)? if not how do i make the piece of crap function, with the Live CD again?

If the optical drive is not the default boot drive, you need to set it so in your BIOS settings. How to get to your BIOS settings differs from PC to PC. Usually there is a note on the Post screen (behind the "e"). You should be able to see the post screen by tapping the "Tab" key during startup.

well the 'e' is the first and only screen that appears. the only response i get from tapping, holding, or pressing F2, F12, or "tab" is a clicking sound from inside the computer. pressing control+alt+del causes a message that reads "Entering setup.....", but it sits there and does nothing. it doesn't even seem like its trying to start up an OS. (by the way, welcome back)
According to eMachine's Manual (Google is your friend!), you can enter the BIOS Setup by pressing and holding F1 on startup.

pressed f1, and it tells me "Entering setup.....", yet it does nothing, unless it just takes a day to get there. (google tries to be my friend, but dialup doesn't want it to be)
F8 ?

. According to this page, it should be Del or F2 to get to the BIOS setup. Found it by Googling "eMachine +BIOS +setup"
