Help making this..

I want to make a sort of ball, to put my camera inside. The point would be to be able throw it, to get an "action" sort of look. I was thinking of making a ball or using some sort of plastic ball. The camera would be held in place by a screw. The inside of the ball would be filled with something to cushion the impact. Any ideas, suggestions or items already available?

Suggestion: don't put a camera in something you are throwing! The laws of physics clearly state that any camera, at any time, will instantaneously implode if thrown, dropped or otherwise molested.

...The whole point of this thread, is to somehow make a ball, fill it with something that will protect it.....

My best bet would be a hamster ball, fill it with foam. Ill carve the foa, in a way that will hold and protect the camera...
I. Was. ==JOKING!!==

Your idea sounds good though.

Oh, okay.
it might be easier to run it along a track... depending how big it is... but. if you insist... you could try making a ball out of silicone, like that caulk stuff at the hardware store. put it in a ball mold...or wel first make half of it... and while the silocone is soft and what not, wrap your camera in saran wrap... stick the butt, or where the lens isn't into it smooth off the excess and let it dry. then do it to the other half of the ball and stick the wrapped lens side in and smooth off the excess. then cut a hole leading up to the lens and stick your camera in and then close up the ball somehow and throw the jiggly mess. that probabaly made NO sense... so ignore this if it didn't. but i still don't think camera's are supposed to be thrown... try running it on a track or a really fast zoom if you want it to seem like it's from the ball's perspective...

Get one of those hamster balls and attach a metal rod that would go all the way through the ball. That way you could attach the camera onto the rod (somehow) and it would be level so that you could have a cool action shot. I don't know how to really explain this, sorry. If I make it, I'll give you the link.

Hmm, a thrown ball will spin, wildly. Even a football has quite a spin on it when tossed. Since a baseball rolls out of the hand as it is tossed, it too spins. It would be difficult at best to eliminate that spin, if one is tossing it manually, I would think.
