How Tall Are You?

I'm not quite sure what's brought me to asking y'all how tall you are, and I'm not sure why I care this much, but how tall are you? I'm 13 years old, and 6 foot tall, without shoes. I'm taller than most of my teachers, and only a few other kids are my height or taller. People literally look up to me. So, if y'all could post your heights, I'd sure like to know!

Kiteman7 years ago
1.7m It may be my imagination, but are people reaching their adult height earlier? I don't mean "is the population getting taller?", but are they reaching the top of their growth curve more quickly?
Foot size too. I'm 13 and size 10 or 11, but that isn't even that big. A good amount of kids at my school are size 13+. My foot is as big as my dad's.
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
Size 14 here, and steadily growing. People call me Ski Feet, which I find hilarious.
John Smith Bran7 years ago
Wow. Tried barefooting yet? You should be great with that :D
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
Unfortunately, I don't ski, but I hope to try ASAP. And yeah, I guess I would!
John Smith Bran7 years ago
Lol, yeah. I love fishing and water sports and stuff, but we haven't been out muck lately. I was supposed to get my boating license last week, but it STILL hasn't came in yet. Not that you really needed to know that.
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
At least you have a (lake?) to ride on - everything down here is so dry, the lake levels so low, and rain really isn't in the forecast anytime soon. You might of heard this in the news, about Georgia.
John Smith Bran7 years ago
Yeah, after I posted the comment, I remembered that you were in that bad drought. We were really dry (right above Okeechobee lake), but we've got some rain. But the lake is still low. I think a front is supposed to bring rain here today or tomorrow.
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
Ah, didn't realize you were down in The Swamp. Today has been actually pretty filled with rain, maybe it'll help a bit. The lake is always low, our Corps of Engineers must've forgotten what the filled amount was.
John Smith Bran7 years ago
Is that what Northerners call it? The Swamp? Well, I guess YOU aren't truly a northerner, because you are actually NICE, and you live in Georgia. Yeah. I don't like it a whole lot, we have 3 seasons of heat, and one of good, cool, weather. I also hate the fact that there is absolutely no hills. Nothing. It is perfectly flat. My favorite state is Georgia, it has woods, hills, and as far as I know, good weather. And, it is not far from the Smokys, my favorite eastern NP (favorite western NP- Zion...over-the-top-best). I actually haven't been skiing in a year or so, we don't have a boat. We go to Lake June (near Lake Placid) to ski, though. I haven't been fishing in more than that, although we went scalloping during summer. I'd definitely recommend that. It didn't rain today, but it's been breezy, cooler, really cloudy and overcast too. It may be the same thing you got today.
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago

Well, I was referring to the Gator's (NCAA Football, you know, University of Florida) stadium, it's known as "The Swamp".

Down here (well, up for you) we have the Okefenokee Swamp, a very nice place.

I also the fact that there is absolutely no hills. Nothing. It is perfectly flat.

Is it really that flat? It can't be as flat as Kansas....

My favorite state is Georgia, it has woods, hills, and as far as I know, good weather.

You got the woods and hills right, but you're a little off on the weather part. Our summers are hot and humid (which, I guess, is a bit like y'all's) and our winters are mild (30 is the lowest temperature we've hit for a while, and even with that we don't get snow).

I haven't been fishing in more than that, although we went scalloping during summer.

You should come fish here, you'd come up with one every time. The lake is so low, the fish ain't got nowhere to go.

Yeah...here you either like the Gators or the Seminoles, or the Hurricanes....I like the Seminoles.

Is it really that flat? It can't be as flat as Kansas....

Yes, it really is that flat. In North Florida, there is some hills, but here, it is as flat or flatter than Kansas...sucks, really.

You got the woods and hills right, but you're a little off on the weather part. Our summers are hot and humid (which, I guess, is a bit like y'all's) and our winters are mild (30 is the lowest temperature we've hit for a while, and even with that we don't get snow).

Our summers are hot and humid too, not dry heat like out west, but sticky heat. I guess you know how that is, though. Our winters are REALLY mild. It did snow...in 1977. We haven't hit 30 for a couple winters, I think.

You should come fish here, you'd come up with one every time. The lake is so low, the fish ain't got nowhere to go.

Ha, we are supposed to have great bass fishing, and other good fish too, but I'm not sure how good it is anymore. Somewhere I read that it was polluted...no idea. We went fishing a couple times, and all we caught so far is a bluegill, thats it.

Florida is good, if you go to the right place. From reading your other posts, I guess you like the outdoors, alot like me. There is a few protected places still around, like Ocala National Park (or maybe it is a state park, dunno), and it has hills and everything. It was great. We rode 4-wheelers there, but someone said that they stopped doing that, or blocked it off, I'm not sure. It was my favorite Florida Park that I've been to so far. Almost all oak, with "wastelands" (that's what I call them) where fires burnt the trees, and where small palmettos have taken up. It is cool to be riding in dense forest to (almost literally) pop out into an open space over a hill.
Well, that explains Florida....

Can you believe that this was started over shoe size? LOL!
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
Pretty crazy, eh?

Well, at least you ain't a Gator Fan, or else I'd have to start trash-talking you, me being a Georgia Fan and all.

I've been to Florida, ha, if you can call it that. I went back in (2004?) to Disney World (or Land, whatever it was) and Universal Studios. It was fun. I also went to the Kennedy Space Center and the Rocket Garden, that was awesome (literally, leaving me in awe).

I went this summer, though I was only in the state long enough to get a free glass of orange juice at one of the welcome centers. I was on a vacation to Okefenokee Swamp.

From reading your other posts

Are you stalking me? Hehe....

So, I guess hurricanes are your worst natural disaster?
John Smith Bran7 years ago
I'm lucky- one of my teachers went to Florida State University, and the other has a spot on their wall devoted to all things FSU. The others don't care about football. Around here, you are either strongly FSU, or strongly UF, with a few that don't like football, but they are mostly shunned by the general population ;D
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
Yeah, 'round here, you either like Georgia, Georgia Tech, or you suck. I like Georgia the best (because we are) but I love watching Alabama games, and root for them, as long as they aren't playing Georgia.
SpinWard Bran6 years ago
Goooo, dawgs, sic'em, woofwoofwoof! Finally another Georgia fan!
Bran (author)  SpinWard6 years ago
Ah, man, don't get me started about UGA! National Champions for '08-'09 season! Knowshon Moreno for Heisman!

Are you stalking me? Hehe....
I'm not...or am I? (kidding)

So, I guess hurricanes are your worst natural disaster?
Hurricanes and snowstorms...no, kidding :D
Wow, that was a stupid joke...got to add that to my collection- LOL!
Well, I guess YOU aren't truly a northerner, because you are actually NICE

Hmm LOL
Yeah, I wasn't serious...it kinda stemmed from when this lady in Publix almost ran me over with her cart. I think it is also because you only remember the bad things about people, too.
Yeah, I didn't think you were serious :-) I had a bad experience with a "southern belle" that I could chalk up as representing all southern females (or worse yet, all females in general). But I joke about it too sometimes.
Had I thought you were serious, I would have replied with a GRRRR rather then a LOL ;-)
Ha, not all northerners are bad, and yes, there are some pretty rude southerners, too.
Goodhart Bran7 years ago
Hmm, toughen up those feet and you could go snowshoeing without the snowshoes LOL (joking)

I wear a size 8 shoe, and it sounds small until you find out I need EEE or EEEE widths. Try and find THAT shoe *sigh* My foot is nearly as wide as it is long (I would be good at stompin grapes I guess LOL).
. I've read that females are starting puberty much earlier nowadays. IIRC, they attributed it to artificial lighting (photoperiod heehee, is that a pun in this context?). Haven't seen anything on height, but it makes sense to me that it would change also.
Bran (author)  NachoMahma7 years ago
I heard it was weight. I'm still not sure why I read that article.
They do say that all the chemicals and crap in the food kids eat today can jump start the onset of puberty earlier...and early puberty = early growth.
I was at my present height in the 10th grade. Sadly, I got taller, and have shrunk back to my height in the 10th grade *sigh*. Although that was only about an inch or so taller then I am now ( 5' 10" or about 1.778 m)
Bran (author)  Kiteman7 years ago
I think so. Although, there a few kids in my school who look like they belong in the 3rd grade (middle of primary school).
SpinWard6 years ago
I tell everyone I'm 5'12".
I really weeds out the idiot.

I actually had someone ask how tall I was. I replied "about 6 feet"
They said "you ain't no 6 feet."
I said you're right, I'm 5'12"
they replied, "I knowed you wasn't no 6 feet"

For being a girl, it sounds shorter than 6 feet. Not sure why.
Girl being a 35 year old female! :)
35 is still young......wait a few years (like 15+) :-)

I'm 13 and around 5'8, I believe.

.
You forgot to put a sentence before "."

=o)
Well, I kinda meant that the Jackie chan thing was weird and off topic. Guess I could have said it differently, huh?
Bran (author)  John Smith7 years ago
Maybe you could at that to your collection of stupid jokes also - LOL!
John Smith Bran7 years ago
Oh, thanks, that just made my day (not really). lol.
According to unit-converter.org, I'm 1,8709e-16 light-years tall =o)

OK, if we're going down that route, I'm the same height as Fritz Lang's ''Maria''.
5.58 feet =]
(that being how tall kiteman is)
If that's 1.7m in old money, then yes.

Fourteen and 6 foot 1. Now someone make a post on how much you weigh.
I am 16 and 6 foot tall. I weigh 135 lb of solid muscle.(I have about 1 percent body fat)
1% body fat? I was under the impression 5%-10% is considered *way* too little, not to be kept like that for more than a few days. (Some people do it for the olympics and stuff)
Bran (author)  zachninme7 years ago
Clicky

The second paragraph says that 2-5% is ideal. I watched this body building show (horrendously disgusting) and this guy had, IIRC, .2% body fat. That's pretty sickening to me.
Pat Sowers Bran7 years ago
I could have a higher body fat% but I dont know. We had to use some kind of pinchy thing to measure our body fat but I couldnt do it because I couldnt pinch nothing but muscle.
Bran (author)  Pat Sowers7 years ago
I couldnt do it because I couldnt pinch nothing but muscle.

Lucky.

Hehe, I need to go on a diet.
Pat Sowers Bran7 years ago
I have been working out for a long time now. Plus I started up military training in school.
I could have a higher body fat% but I dont know. We had to use some kind of pinchy thing to measure our body fat but I couldnt do it because I couldnt pinch nothing but muscle.
So, no bones or blood then?
you know what i ment.
Hey Pat, are you on North Penn's football team? You guys are pretty good. I am at Unionville. We are 8-0.
