How a CPU is born
The article briefly runs through a highly abridged series of steps in the making of what eventually turns out to be an Intel i7 processor. It starts off with the raw materials (SiO2, e.g., sand) and how they turn it into monstrous (about 220 pounds!), essentially pure, silicon ingots from which wafers are made. and many steps later the processors are boxed up and ready for store shelves.
