Hp or Gateway Laptop?

I want a laptop but there are about 2 that are neck-and-neck in my decision.

There's this HP which i really like its design and appearance and also the hardware inside it.

And Then there's this Gateway which has a tiny bit of more parts like a different graphics card, larger hard drive, built in webcam, and lightscribe (not really concerned about these parts).

And I'm pretty sure i want the HP (more trusted brand in my opinion), but i just want a second opinion.

Just from past experience, I would not buy an HP. I repair computers for people sometimes and almost all of them have been HP. They seem to just go bad faster than other companies. I would go with Gateway, they usually last a long time.

pretty much same graphics card, don't need that much hard drive space(could just buy an external hard drive), webcam-cool, but not needed, and I wouldn't really use lightscribe-is cool though. The Gateway is better in terms of hardware/software but i trust the HP brand more (don't know why) and i like the looks of it more.

I really don't know much about other laptops because I have only bought IBM, a total of 6 laptops. Haven't had a problem with any of them besides 2 viruses.
no, i have a compaq like that, and i love it, it has an amd something 64 dual core, its blazing fast. (and HP bought out compaq a while back but keep the name going).
lightscribe is KOOL!!! get the gateway!

Hmm... I'm particularly liking the Gateway one. Although, the Gateway's screen is just about an inch smaller. But it is a Larger HDD. They both come with Vista, so that's a notch down for both. They both have 3 GB of ram (If I read right). The Gateway is also Lighter. If it were up to me, I'd go with the gateway. I've always wanted a webcam, it has a WAY larger Hard Drive, and less bloatware preinstalled on it. Of course, HP is a more trusted brand, but I, personally, would rather have the Gateway. I mean, Gateway is trusted too. Final Verdict: I like the Gateway more, but it's not my money nor is it my decision.
