I need a famous speech

I need to memorize a 7-10 minute famous speech for debate club. I need a speech. I don't want a big black speech because i'm half white and half asian and that would just look weird. i have a nice powerful voice, but i just need a speech.

Anyone?

Fascism & Mussolini are generally thought of in the same general area, are they not?

What speech did you use?
Gorfram says: Oct 12, 2009. 12:16 AM
Google for speeches by Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, and Winston Churchill. About half the worthwhile things that have ever been said in English have been attributed to at least one of them at one one time or another, and they all date from an era when long speeches were the norm.
guyfrom7up (author) in reply to GorframOct 14, 2009. 2:30 PM
Haha, right now we are reading "A picture of Dorean Gray"

and luckily our english teacher told us Oscar wilde was gay before westarted reading it :P But so far the book is pretty interestingand has a pretty philosophical look to it

I'd give the speech from "Billy Madison", where he compares "The Little Puppy Who Lost His Way" to the industrial revolution.
Rock Soldier in reply to skunkbaitOct 12, 2009. 12:41 PM
Mr. Madison, the Industrial Revolution changed the face of the modern novel forever. Discuss, citing specific examples.
[Billy clears his throat several times]
Uh... Okay. The Industrial Revolution to me is just like a story I know called "The Puppy Who Lost His Way." The world was changing, and the puppy was getting... bigger.
[Later]
So, you see, the puppy was like industry. In that, they were both lost in the woods. And nobody, especially the little boy - "society" - knew where to find 'em. Except that the puppy was a dog. But the industry, my friends, that was a revolution.
[Long pause]
Knibb High football rules!
[the crowd erupts into cheers]
Mr. Madison, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Okay, a simple "wrong" would've done just fine.
guyfrom7up (author) in reply to Rock SoldierOct 12, 2009. 1:14 PM
HAHA, OOOMMMGGGG

I should definiteley do that, except i might get like tossed out society, i mean the little boy xD That sounds soooo wrong
Rock Soldier in reply to guyfrom7upOct 12, 2009. 3:38 PM
lol.
I don't think your so called, "Little boy" would care, as long as your talking about how the "puppy" grew into a "dog" over the years in the woods, or "The city"

Now I want to watch Billy Madison just for that.
Rock Soldier in reply to skunkbaitOct 12, 2009. 12:16 PM
Lol.
"I honestly think everyone in this room just got stupider from hearing your speech"
(Not a direct quote, but you get my point)

Roosevelt's speech after the incidents of Pearl Harbor.

Youre half white and half asian, so its all a matter of what you think of the events.

Does that make sense...at all?

guyfrom7up (author) in reply to Keith-KidOct 12, 2009. 1:14 PM
suree... maybe, at least it's a serious suggestion, I'm going to go look into that

Does it have to be "real life"? If not, then something from Inherit the Wind (on either side) would be pretty cool.

a lot of those speeches are pretty good, but are really only like 3 minutes worth of material, the requirements for the competition is 7 to 10 >.<

www.americanrhetoric.com/top100speechesall.html
then you need to search for long speeches...if not, really long speeches...
Haha, i don't think so, I think it has to be something that people have actually preached.
