Instructables Event in North Carolina!

So it's going to happen, Eric just gave me the OK. There's going to be an Instructables event in North Carolina!

I will be hosting an Instructables event of some sort this fall or winter, most likely fall, here in Boone, North Carolina. There are no details yet, since I need you all to tell me when would work best for most of you. I'm not sure what, when, or where yet.
We'll pick a weekend, preferably one when there's not a football game going on here, and we'll do something like a show and tell.

I know there are quite a few Instructables users in the state, plus quite a few within driving distance.

Anyone interested can post here or PM me. Let me know what you all think, and we'll set a date. I'm working on a location as we speak.

If many people show interest in driving from very far away and will possibly need lodging, then I can post details about what we have in Boone as far as hotels, camp grounds, etc.

Cheers! More updates to come.

Update 9-4
Two dates that are looking promising are October 18th and November 8th. We officially have permission to use the Bald Guy Brew in the evening. If we do something in the evening Bald Guy Brew going to be the best bet. As for a time, we'd probably start somewhere between 4 and 6. More specifics on that to come.

Update 9-8
Okay, the date that's looking promising is the 8th of November. This is a show-and-tell event. We will be meeting at Bald Guy Brew coffee shop, so bring a few bucks of you want coffee. I'll post directions closer to the event. Go ahead and invite your friends. Bring a snack if you can, and let me know if you plan on coming!

Update 9-8 (2)
And let me know if you'll need a projector, to be outside to demo, need a haz-mat team present, or whatever. If you let me know before you show up for the event then I can probably make it happen. Maybe not a haz-mat team, but you get the idea.

Update 10-21
Final/semi-final details are up!

I'm 2 hrs east of Boone. It's a really nice place to visit. If any of you can come, do. I like the weekend of Nov. 8. Our 27th wedding anniversary is Nov. 7. It would give us someplace to go to "git oudda tnn"! Do we have to bring an instructable or can we just come to visit?

*sigh* Too far, too much going on, no car. Plenty of reasons I can't come. Thus I will have to cry myself to sleep tonight.

Have fun you guys!

Sounds fun, unfortunately, I won't be there. I'd like to have another one in Orlando...I never got to go to the first one.

Ashville is actually only 9-11, depending on traffic. We go there often enough.

sorry about the mulit posting but have any of seen horn in the west???its a very good play you sould go watch it its nice clean fun...(blanks are used in the play(black power rifels that is!!)i think they use a cannon im not sure...)

I can demonstrate blacksmithing, and have my own equipment. I might suggest the parking lot of horn in the west as a location as it is expansive and pretty easy to work something basic like this out.

I might be able to make it. I don't know about my schedule that far in advance yet though. Fall might be better for me with school, as next semester I will have a 6 hour lab every day during the week, plus any other classes and work.

Love the idea, but I work weekends. Every. Weekend. I can take 2-3 off per year, which I usually spend with my family (sometimes in Boone!), but I have to plan well ahead. If this becomes an annual event, I will be more likely to make it in the future.

I would probably come visit. An overnight with drinking would be nice!

I can bring one or two people with me from the RDU area. That would make it a lot easier for students to make it, I think.

Is anybody from Instructables coming?
Sep 3, 2008. 6:07 PMJake Turner says:
I'd love to go, but Boone is a little far from Franklinton, I think. Depends on how long the event is and whatnot.

Oh yeah, awesome idea!
