Instructables and Squid Labs have moved!
Instructables and Squid Labs have moved! We finally ran out of space in our Emeryville warehouse. During November, there were literally people sitting on the ground working on their laptops because we didn't have enough desks, space for desks, or even chairs to sit in.
We're now located in a secret location somewhere on an island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay with plenty of space and spectacular views. Since that free barge on Craigslist was taken before we could get there, I guess it's not much of a secret location considering there are only two possible spots left.
Check out our new digs at the old the Alameda Naval base control tower. Yes, we are actually in the control tower building. There's three guns in the front, plenty of parking for school buses and free boats, and it's tough to beat the view from my office.

Holy Crap! the Bay area has the largest concentration of do-it-your-own-freaking-self-awesome-win then anywhere else on the planet, hands down. If only I didn't live on the other side of the country.

Is that police training area you mentioned awhile back just south of your location? You can easily see a well used path on Google maps just south of your location :)

No. Occasionally, car companies bring new cars out there for people to test drive, though. The police training area is to the north on the highway that was built for the Matrix 2.

Spectacular view! Are you logging the types of birds visible from your windows? Awesome!
While interviewing a web developer, I saw a hawk catch a ground squirrel and fight off a few other hawks to claim its prize. I had to stop the interview while I ran around and alerted everyone else in the building about the nature show right outside. I think that gave the proper flavor for what kind of company we are. There are also quite a few hummingbirds that feed on flowers right outside the windows.
I am happy to hear Squidlabs moved to a better location, and that you have a "room with a view". Congrats to all of you for a great "instructables" webpage.

Remarkably, their bores are not filled with concrete like most military appliances you see sitting as monuments. Trust me, there will be video when we do something.

It is! There's also the highway from the Matrix 2 where I often see the police practicing their high-speed spin out maneuvers.
So you kicked them out, eh? Did you find any remains from their show? :P
We're in a slightly different area than the Mythbusters. There's a ton of space on the old Naval base.
So is the airfield no longer in use at all? Assorted bay area model rocketry clubs are looking for new flying fields, and deserted runways are usually pretty good. large empty parking lots are not bad. Do you have a contact that might be used to explore such possibilities?
The airfield is now a bird sanctuary and is off limits. In the parking lots to the southeast I often see people flying model planes; that might be a good spot. I don't have any contacts in mind, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find out who flies planes here.
