Instructables login issues
The site seems to be logging me out as I am browsing the instructables. I tried to re-log in but it wouldn't let me. I am using firefox, just downloaded it to my computer last week since I saw that the site is best viewed with that browser. Really kind of annoying because then I can't view a whole instructable on one page.

If you're using a Mac, you can try this. It worked for me when I set it to Firefox for Mac.

I too was suffering from this problem, but I recently made the switch to Google Chrome Browser and that seems to have solved the issue. Hope this helps someone else...

Normally using IE8 but now FF on XP.
FF cannot log me in from the top right page link. Even if you see the you are loged in it keeps asking you to log in. I did managed to login and stay loged from the comment pop-up window by disabling the remember me box. The paste or Ctr+V does not work inside the comment box. If you try to add an image then it will tell you that you need to log in first!!!
Also you cannot add any image with a comment or a reply but only text with IE8 and Chrome. At least these two keep you logged in.
With IE8 it's obvious that there is an incompatibility with the web design because things keep moving around i.e. the orange ribbon with the search on the footer.
Ok , that's all what I can remember for now.

Today I was able to upload images on a reply only by using chrome.
Did nothing or change nothing from my end.
Also noticed that the spell check only works for me in chrome on IE8 not in FF I can say cause I cannot login now whatever I do (keeps asking me to log in)

Are you accepting cookies from instructables.com? You don't need to accept all cookies (in particular, not from the advertisers!), but the I'bles uses a cookie on your machine to recognize that you're logged in as you move from page to page.
Yes, I am accepting cookies from instructables.com. I only seem to have issues with they system logging me out when I am using mozilla. I am using explorer right now and haven't had any issues being logged out.
I wanted to check in and see if you were still having problems staying logged in in Firefox. Let me know!

It's a bit of a wily problem. It's happening to a small select group of users, and as much as we try to figure out the cause, it's somewhere lost in the code.
The only time to "remember me" box has trouble for me, is if I log out and someone else logs in, but I have another tab open where I was still logged in. This creates a multitude of confusion for a bit, but just requires closing all of the extra open browser windows that are logged in. I can understand this problem, and people can fix that in the code.
The problem other people seem to have is that the website just doesn't seem to want to let them on, or if they are on, to do anything. We're trying to figure out what might cause that, but it's a little difficult since it's not happening to any of us.
If it starts up again, or you're able to recreate the problem, please give me as much specific information as you can about what you're doing at the time, so I can try to get the same thing to happen to me.

I had the same problem this morning, but clearing the cache and unchecking the "keep me logged in" box, seems to have fixed it. I did both at the same time, so I'm not sure if it it was one or the other or both combined, but either way it's not logging me out every time I click a link anymore.
I've had the same problem, long-term. I use Firefox with all the latest updates. When I come to the site, I'm logged in. When I click on some instructables from within the site or from a referral site like Google Reader, I'm no longer logged in and attempting to log in is unsuccessful.
I have an exception set up in Firefox to always accept cookies from the site. I have also tried changing rendering engines (switching to IE) and the problem still occurs.

I can't log in unless I uncheck the "Remember Me" box (otherwise it just redirects me to the login box), and even then, it logs me out after I try to post a comment in Chrome. It's setting cookies successfully - I can see them in my browser - but something is going wrong, and it keeps logging me out. This makes it very frustrating, especially with all of the login prompts to look at pictures and such things around the site.

I go to the first page and am logged out but can't log in either by the view all pages log in or the log in at the top right corner. I navigate to the second page or any successive pages and am logged back in. I can then click on the view all steps in one page. Hope this helps. It doesn't really bother me because its easy to click the next pages but it is odd.
