Knex Flight

Seeing as knex is light, strong and flexible, and most importantly, using rods, I beleive it would be feesable to build a Knex 'glider'.

After seeing how gliders are made, it could be possible to build a lightweight spacframe wing out of knex, and make it fly using clingfilm as its 'skin'.

An extra boost of gliding power would come from a clingfilm propeller, powered by the very fast and smal, solar motor.

Do you think it is possible to make something like this glide 10 metres?

Ideas welcome.

I don't know about 10 meters (unless you launch it from a very high point) but a K'nex glider does seem possible. Of course it would have to cling film but seeing that K'nex are light weight and good for making object skeletons it would be rather simple however it wouldn't glide far most probably. As for a motor I think that it would add more weight than it would support bycontributing to lift by adding thrust.

id build it by make a large lifting body and placing 2 fire works to get to fly

it could be made... barely

I've made a section of the wing, and it lifts with a hair dryer, now just making it MASSIVE.
Uh....doesn't "massive" kind of defeat the purpose? Unmassive tends to be better for aircraft, at least on this planet ;->

Glider tend to have longer wing/body size ratios than normal planes.
lol, kool! im making a new big ball machine... it will be shown in about 2-3weeks, maybe a teaser in a few days...

You do realize knex has too many holes in it to sustain enough air for lift right?

'Clingfilm'
Doesn't sound like a knex part.
