Lego Stop Motions

Does anyone here make stop motions? I made my first one today. The program I used was called FrameByFrame. It's easy to use, but it destroyed the quality of the pictures.

I would ask why this is in the K'Nex forum, but then I saw who posted it.

and we dont have a lego forum as well.

One would expect that if they have a K'nex forum, they'd have a Lego forum. I wonder why they don't. There are some lego entries and I'bles posted, probably enough for it to have its own forum.

They are showing some good quality Lego animations.
Maybe it's partly down to your camera & lighting? I notice that your camera (or Lego) moves about and it's not that bright.

Could be, as I don't have a tripod. I'll try it again sometime with different conditions.

Brighter lighting can help. What sort of camera are you using? L

Cannon Powershot.

That sounds good, does the FrameByFrame software add compression? I might have downloaded it but I don't have a Mac - are there any quality settings that might give a better result (like on the site)? L
bakenbitz (author) in reply to lemonieMar 2, 2009. 9:45 AM
Yes, I chose the highest quality exporting settings. Then I imported that into iMovie, to add the music. Then compressed in iMovie under high quality settings again. Uploaded to youtube, which probably made the quality worse. I think what might have ruined it, was, I took the pictures fast and maybe the camera didn't have a chance to focus. I might re-do this later today.

Aye, it might just be the final compression and YouTubing that did it. Have a look for camera tripod (& other pod) Instructables, there are a few good ones. L

I have determined that it was the program. I loaded the pics on my computer and they all looked great. I imported them into the program, and they looked horrible. I'll have to buy istopmotion.

Right, you think maybe they've been 'cheating' a bit with their demonstration clips? L

Thanks for all the help.
