Local Globes

Globes are meant to represent entire planets, but what if the world you want to show on them is actually much smaller? Then you can make a Local Globe. Take a map and apply the Photoshop filter Flexify to it and you can make a globe of your own! All right, I'm totally gonna do this and I know exactly what image I want to put on it. Now I just need to find a cheap globe.

Pretty cool!  What happens at the coordinate singularities?  Not to mention the longitudinal junction?
