Login status doesn't seem to persist among pages

I'm using firfefox 3.6.8 under winxp.  I opened the "http://www.instructables.com/id/Secret-Poster-Stash/" url from my instructables email this morning, and the site didn't recognize me, so I entered my login info at the top of the page.  The header didn't update to show my logged in status, and I was still unable to do pro things to the instructable itself (view all on a single page).  If I clicked the link to the main page, I showed up as logged in.  I tried reloading the poster stash page, and killing that tab and entering it as a new link from a new tab still got the same result.

I waited a while and then opened it as a new page again, and finally it showed me as logged in.

Not sure what's going on, but I figured I'd mention it.

Same here. This has been happening to me ever since this PRO thing was added to the site (many months ago). So it is not only related to Firefox 3.6.8. I am not sure if it is a bug or an 'incentive' for us to go PRO. K.

See, more here http://www.instructables.com/community/Instructables-login-issues/

Three commenters have the same problem:

The site seems to be logging me out as I am browsing the instructables. I tried to re-log in but it wouldn't let me. I am using firefox, just downloaded it to my computer last week since I saw that the site is best viewed with that browser. Really kind of annoying because then I can't view a whole instructable on one page.

I've had the same problem, long-term. I use Firefox with all the latest updates. When I come to the site, I'm logged in. When I click on some instructables from within the site or from a referral site like Google Reader, I'm no longer logged in and attempting to log in is unsuccessful.

I have been having the same problem. I start out logged in and click on an instructable. I go to the first page and am logged out but can't log in either by the view all pages log in or the log in at the top right corner. I navigate to the second page or any successive pages and am logged back in. I can then click on the view all steps in one page. Hope this helps. It doesn't really bother me because its easy to click the next pages but it is odd.

Here again, I noticed that login problem happens only with some instructables. In my case, for instance, this instructable logs me out no matter what I do:

These ones work just fine:
