Or, if you want something flatter, lay all three cords pointing like a Mercedes badge. Mentally number them, 1-2-3.
> Tie the end of 1 in an overhand knot around 2.
> Tie the end of 2 in an overhand knot around 3.
> Tie the end of 3 in an overhand knot around 1.
That will make a triangle of strings, and when you pull them all tight, it should make a flat triangular knot in the centre.
