Moviscop -> LED upgrade

Hello Everybody,

I need some basics electronics help.
I want to replace the bulb on 16mm viewer Zeiss Moviscop with a LED.

This is the viewer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eoorider/5278039285/
This is the bulb: http://www.cine60ny.com/osram-sylvania-25v-1a-ba15251158203.html
This is the LED: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=AN3200-03-W1-GAvirtualkey61510000virtualkey889-AN320003W1GA

What else do I need? I am decent soldering but don't know how to control the circuit voltage? I probably need a potentiometer, transistors?

Thanks!

So you want to take a system that uses a 25V DC bulb and put a 100V AC LED in its place? With the LED your wanting to use all you have to do is pull out everything that controls the current bulb, add a main AC plug, on/off switch and LED then your set. Lowering the voltage to the LED will just turn it off. If you want to dim it you'll need a controller for that. I don't know if you can find a dimmer that can dim a 100V AC LED. I can find plenty that can dim a 12V DC or 24V DC LED.

To keep things simple, though not cheaper, you may want to consider an LED light bulb. http://www.mouser.com/Optoelectronics/LED-Lighting/LED-Light-Bulbs/_/N-74gii?Keyword=24V+DC+LED&FS=True

Buy the time you get the controller and everything together for the LED you where looking at you would be coming close to the price of the already assembled bulbs.

Hi Thank you so much for responding.

Would this help as a dimmer?

I suggest you consider the kind of voltage input you want to use on the item. Then select your driver based on that and the LED based on that. I know enough to tell you, you need a driver to control a high power LED but thats about it. I don't have a clue on what driver would work with what LED and how to connect it all together. Cause you'll need more then just an IC to control the LED.

I can find all sorts of driver boards but none that have the ability to dim the LED.

Good luck
