Outdoor water fountain...how to silence homemade pump
I love this website. I've been living in Egypt and can't really do all the hobbies that I love. We recently moved and I have a little patio area. So I wanted to build a waterfall. It's 10 feet high and I didn't realize it would be such a futile task trying to find a water pump that will pump that high.
So I decided to make one.
I attached some images showing the centrifugal pump made from two plastic containers, a water bottle, plastic coat hanger, and construction adhesive that is driven by a drill. It works really well. It gets up to the twelve feet I currently have the hose running up to.
But in order to do this, the drill has to be almost full speed which is obnoxiously loud.
I'm looking for some ideas on either how to silence the drill motor, or go a different route. I have to rebuild the shaft as I snapped the plastic rod (hanger) I was using, so I'm open to some rebuild ideas.
Thanks so much for the input!
I'll post a tutorial once I get a fully functional, stable, and practical prototype.
