Pi day pie challenge question

Is this contest limited to edible, food base pies or can you make a pie from some other material, like say for example a felt, yarn or clay pie.

The main contest page says; "One top prize will be rewarded for best geeky Pi-related pie, and one for the best non-Pi-related pie recipe."

Because the contest is also hosted by "Serious Eats", its my guess that they are looking for ONLY edible related Pie (Pi) Recipies. I could be wrong, but that's how I read it.

Yeah, the recipe part suggests that's the case.
I'm pretty sure that felt, yarn, and clay are all edible under extreme circumstances. Incidentally, we're there's also an extreme challenge, maybe that could be both?

Extreme yarn eating, that sounds like something my cat would do.

lol.
The main contest page says; "One top prize will be rewarded for best geeky Pi-related pie, and one for the best non-Pi-related pie recipe."

To be picky (which I am) the first part says: "One top prize will be rewarded for best geeky Pi-related pie" and the second part says: "and one for the best non-Pi-related pie recipe"

To me that means the "Geeky" does not need to be a recipe (just something pie related) so it could be Yarn.. where as the "edible" prize would be given for the best "recipe".
I can't tell you if that's a correct interpretation of the rules or not. Its the responsibility of the staff and "Serious Eats" (the co-host) to decide what is acceptable and not. So I would suggest that you send a PM to whomever is running this challenge to confirm your understanding of the rules, or email staff at the service address to avoid any disappointment.

If anyone gets a confirmed answer, it would be nice to post it here, for the benefit of all members who are questioning or confused by the challenge requirements.
