Instructables is looking for a videographer to support our in-house projects, and overall vision to create meaningful visual content. Short, and long form videos, animated gifs, photography, all the usual stuff that works out there on different delivery platforms and the future of web video formats for YouTube and beyond. It will require a fast, fun and playful approach to media, a lot of experimentation and a sensitivity to audience feedback.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Documenting and capturing the creative output of our Design Studio
Conceptualizing, shooting and editing compelling video projects from start to finish - including both editorial short and long form
Discover and create new recurring video formats to live on YouTube, Facebook, and other video sharing services
Uploading and content delivery to all social and partner channels
Maintaining organized archive of video content
You have shot, edited and published your own content
Experience editing, cutting sizzles, and documentary style pieces
Creative with good story telling ability to bring creative vision to all projects
Solid knowledge of Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro 7
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop
Experience shooting with cameras, especially the 5D or 6D
Ability to work independently and edit videos to meet strict deadlines
Experience managing a YouTube channel
A love of the internet and internet culture
Humility and a sense of play

Java DeveloperInstructables is looking for a mid-level Java developer to join our engineering team at Pier 9 in San Francisco. Our ideal candidate has spent the last 2-5 years writing Java pretty much every day. Fluency is Java is a must, and our ideal candidate also has good knowledge of Java web applications and specifically these technologies will go a long ways:
- Comfort with Unix / Command line
Our application has reached a stage where a number of interesting performance and resource allocation issues are part of the daily job. You'll have help learning your way around a large code base, but we want you to feel comfortable contributing your expertise from day one. You would be writing the back end code that powers all of Instructables’ platforms across the web and mobile devices, so if you have a passion for writing clear, concise, scalable and testable code that others will find easy to read and maintain over time, we want to hear from you!
