Well, you are "pissing" everyone off.

Yo, buttmuncher. He is trying to honestly help people by praying for them, he is not trying to change your hypocritical 'religion'. Also Wesie42, you are a nice person, I will pray for you, and you as well Skate6566; hopefully you will open your heart and life to Jesus Christ, and receive the love of the Lord. (John 3:16- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, so that those who believe in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

First: "Ledzeppie: i dont see why you cannot just practice religion on your own, you dont have to yell christianity everywhere you go. you can teach those who ask about it, but please dont make public things about"
You qoute this and act hypocritacal by reapeting "I'M AN ATHEIST!".
Secound: I don't care if "Yo, buttmuncher" is considered bad, you were insulting someones believes; someone who is trying to help people honestly by prayering for them.
Third: He wasn't trying to insult or harm anyone, he was attempting to help. What if you had cancer, and someone on the street said, " I'll pray for you because your ill." Would you say, "F!#@ off."
Stop shooting good people down to attempt to prove a point.

Oh, P.s. hypocrite, your comment wasn't very constructive either. Duh.

There's a joke: A Man is in the middle of the ocean drowning, and a guy on a boat comes by and asks if he needs any help. The man replies, "No thanks, god will save me" so the man in the boat leaves. Another boat comes by and the person on it asks if the man needs help. The man, once again, replies, "No thanks, god will save me", so the boat leaves. The then drowns and goes to heaven. When he got to heaven, the man asked god why he didn't save him, and god replied, "I sent you two boats, you dummy!".

The story about the man who went into the lion's den?

Here you go: Source
Mar 28, 2008. 12:47 PMLabot2001 says:
I recently read on some blog about a guy who lowered himself into a cage full of lions saying that, "God will save me, if he exists." Just after he lowered himself in he was mauled to death by a lioness.

Not to burst your bubble, but according to Christian teaching (more specifically, the Bible), it is wrong to put God to the test.
Mar 28, 2008. 12:56 PMxACIDITYx says:
Where, exactly?
Mar 28, 2008. 1:12 PMLabot2001 says:
Jesus answered him, "It is also written: `Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" (Matthew 4:7)
Mar 28, 2008. 1:08 PMtech-king says:
i dont remeber, but yes, it does say that (im not even cristian and i know this) some country or other demanded proof jesus was g-d. he refused, saying that to ask proof of g-d was to cease to believe.
Mar 28, 2008. 1:13 PMLabot2001 says:
Actually, Satan was pushing Jesus to jump off a cliff and have God save Him, but it's all good. ;]
Mar 28, 2008. 9:47 PMGoodhart says:
You're mixing up stories there LOL......after speaking as rabbi in front of the meeting, the crowd tried to throw him off a cliff. He was "tempted" to "jump" off the pinnacle of the temple.
Mar 29, 2008. 1:37 AMLabot2001 says:
was pushing Jesus to jump off a cliff

By "pushing...to" I meant "tempting...to" =]

And I could've sworn they were in the desert, right? 40 days kinda thing?
Mar 29, 2008. 6:45 AMGoodhart says:
Yes, you are right there, but the "tempter" could not have been "with him" as stated, so either the text contradicts itself or he "tempted himself", which is what James indicates: "each is tempted when lured and enticed by his OWN thoughts and desires...". He was there in the desert dealing with himself fasting for 40 days as the Israelites had done a few thousand years before.
Mar 29, 2008. 4:14 AMtech-king says:
no, that was the Hebrews, who had to wander the dessert for 40 years because they worshiped a weird golden ox
Mar 29, 2008. 6:47 AMGoodhart says:
:-) that is as Labot says below, an incident that happened long before Jesus' time, but yes, Jesus did go into the wilderness to fast for 40 days.
Mar 29, 2008. 5:42 AMLabot2001 says:
LOL, that's yet another story, but from the Old Testament, wayyyy before Jesus' time.

Mar 29, 2008. 3:55 PMKiteman says:
Perhaps you would like to name the representative, so that I can contact him and point out his ignorance of the law?

Whilst it is open to public scrutiny, this is a private website, not a public billboard erected in the street - the rules are different here.
Mar 28, 2008. 9:01 AMWeissensteinburg says:
Think of it like this:
Profanity isn't illegal, but in front of a parent or teacher is not the place for it.
Mar 28, 2008. 12:50 PMLabot2001 says:
I thought that swearing (if that is what you mean by profanity) was illegal?

I mean, if you're swearing in a store or restaurant, they can kick you out. Disturbing the peace, right?
Mar 28, 2008. 12:50 PMLabot2001 says:
Don't take this wrong, I totally agree and I like the analogy, I was just wondering...
Mar 28, 2008. 12:53 PMWeissensteinburg says:
A restaurant is private property, they can kick whoever they want out (obviously within discriminatory limits)
Mar 28, 2008. 8:26 PMxACIDITYx says:
Yeah, in public they can't do anything about profanities.
Mar 28, 2008. 8:28 PMWeissensteinburg says:
To an extent, you could probably get some sort of citation for disturbing the peace if people complained. But there's nothing illegal about using them during a normal conversation.

But the analogy still works =]
Mar 30, 2008. 7:18 AMwhatsisface says:
Now it sounds like you're either playing or being the ignorant. This is still a private website, you don't own it, and the owners of the website can remove anything irrelevant. Although it may now be breaking any government set rules or laws, this site can have it's own policy of use that you can be breaking.
Mar 29, 2008. 3:44 PMWeissensteinburg says:
Did you miss the entire analogy? Maybe you really are a moron.

This isn't the place to talk about religion. You don't have the right to say anything you want here, because it is a privately owned website. The owners of this website are the ones who choose what is allowed to be spoken about.

And yes, you are disturbing the peace.
Mar 26, 2008. 6:02 PMteaaddict314 says:
it might not be breaking legal laws, but it does annoy a LOT of people. i dont see why you cannot just practice religion on your own, you dont have to yell christianity everywhere you go. you can teach those who ask about it, but please dont make public things about it.

Mar 26, 2008. 6:52 PMdsman195276 says:
I find it hard to believe that you are Christian.
Mar 30, 2008. 11:18 AMwhatsisface says:
On the contrary, one does not have to be a Christian to pray.
Mar 26, 2008. 7:01 PMGoodhart says:
You do understand that Christian mean "follower of Christ", correct ? Thus, one would have to find instances of him "seeking out the crowd" and "looking for attention" to justify some of this. What we do find is this: "and he got into a boat, to get away from the crowds" and "he went up the mount, and his disciples followed (but not the crowd)", and "he passed between them" (escaping the crowd); and after almost every healing he'd say "tell NO ONE about this". The last thing he sought was notoriety . It was his "life" that was the example. A Christian is to "do likewise".
Mar 27, 2008. 2:58 PMKeith-Kid says:
seriously, are you christian??? You make a lot of good points that only I seem to actually understand in my school....

:/

Mar 29, 2008. 4:06 PMGoodhart says:
I am Christian, but I follow Christianity more as it was in the first century ADE, and not how it has become. Yeshua himself never asked people to go about shouting in the streets, nor banging on doors. Just as one does not share advice without being asked, it is also not good to preach without being asked. I talk to different people in my workplace and around where I live all the time, but I do not "go seeking them out", they ask me questions about why I "do this" or "don't do that", etc.
Mar 29, 2008. 5:05 PMKeith-Kid says:
1) didn't you already say that?

2) Which is Yeshua? ( My language is Spanish, so we learn this in Spanish and I don't know the names in English
Mar 29, 2008. 5:17 PMGoodhart says:
um, yeah, sorry for the repeat......Yeshua is Hebrew for Jesus
Mar 29, 2008. 5:17 PMGoodhart says:
Jesus is actually an Americanized form of the Greek name
Mar 26, 2008. 6:55 PMLabot2001 says:
I'm Christian, yes, I believe in Christ; but I'm also American and therefore believe in freedom of religion. ;]
Mar 26, 2008. 7:08 PMdsman195276 says:
I am sorry, i said that wrong, that was a little insensitive of me. what i meant was if your a Christian, why don't you want to tell people about it?
Mar 26, 2008. 9:26 PMteaaddict314 says:
labbot i dont want to speak for you or anything, but im guessing its because he doesnt feel the need to run around yelling "IM CHRISTIAN WOOHOO" like you seem to like to do.
Mar 27, 2008. 5:51 AMLabot2001 says:
Something like that. While I am proud that I am Christian, I respect other peoples' beliefs, and don't feel the need to shove mine down their throats. After all, I wouldn't want someone telling me that if I didn't follow their religion, I would burn in Hell. To quote Christ, "Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you." Confucius said that first, BTW ;]
Mar 27, 2008. 1:47 PMdsman195276 says:
i am not shoving it down there throats, but i am not going to let people just walk all over my religion.
Mar 29, 2008. 5:07 PMKeith-Kid says:
Mathew 18, 21-23

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" 22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven
Mar 27, 2008. 1:50 PMtech-king says:
so dont preach it, and you give people nothing to shoot at. im not complaining, but i really dont understand why you still preach to us.
Mar 27, 2008. 1:54 PMdsman195276 says:
one reason would be that if i don't, you would still walk all over me and my religion.
Mar 27, 2008. 1:59 PMtech-king says:
me? no i wouldnt. i would complain if you picked jesus inside as your avatar yes, and not just because im not cristian. but i really dont care if you preach, up to the point where it gets annoying. for instance now. you should have given it a few weeks after the cristian instructable before this.
Mar 27, 2008. 2:03 PMdsman195276 says:
i did not make this, nore is "jesus inside" my image. maybe you wouldent walk all over my religion, but people like kiteman probely would. i will think about stoping for a week. mostly because yes, it would get annoying.
Mar 30, 2008. 7:15 AMwhatsisface says:
I'm sorry, but I know for a fact that if you never mentioned Christianity, Kiteman would not give people grief for their religion, partly because he has no way of knowing if you are or are not Christian, and mostly because he's not one to troll and start a flame war. Any negative comments you may have received about your faith from any member here will all stem from you either mentioning your faith or preaching it.
Mar 27, 2008. 2:19 PMWeissensteinburg says:
No, if you didn't bring it up, kiteman wouldn't "walk all over you"
Mar 27, 2008. 2:24 PMdsman195276 says:
hmm...
Mar 30, 2008. 2:52 PMKiteman says:
As whatsisface and W'berg say, you will notice that I only ever respond to religious posts.

Further than that, I have also recently objected to an atheist thread - Instructables is not an appropriate forum for any religious postings.

I am only posting now because you brought my name into the discussion. Otherwise, I would have let the thread fade away as it should.
Mar 30, 2008. 2:55 PMdsman195276 says:
ok, i am going to stop. you can't help want does not want to be helped.
Mar 30, 2008. 3:01 PMKiteman says:
You also shouldn't try and help those that do not need your "help". If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I also find your attempt at condescending dismissal to be both insulting and rather unchristian.

(You know those comments about stopping people walking all over your religion, think on these two questions:
What kind of person claims a religion as their own personal property?
and
According to the sermon on the Mount, what kind of person is supposed to inherit the Earth?)
Mar 30, 2008. 3:05 PMLabot2001 says:

Mar 30, 2008. 4:23 PMWeissensteinburg says:
I liked his usage of the entire term more. Never thought of invoking "if it aint broke, don't fix it" in relation to religion. =]
Mar 30, 2008. 3:25 PMKiteman says:
It's a colloquialism. A meme. Don't "they" use the phrase in the US?
Mar 30, 2008. 3:30 PMGoodhart says:
yes, THEY do, but WE don't (unless under duress LOL or, as in your case, quoting someone )
Mar 30, 2008. 3:11 PMdsman195276 says:
thanks...
Mar 30, 2008. 3:14 PMLabot2001 says:

ok.
Mar 27, 2008. 2:44 PMtech-king says:
thank you for listening. i just listed the things that i dislike about your preaching. mainly the stupid jeasus inside avatar.
Mar 27, 2008. 6:50 AMGoodhart says:
Actually, another Rabbi did so many centuries before also.
Mar 27, 2008. 4:12 PMLabot2001 says:
Really? Was I correct in saying that Confusius did too? Because I'm pretty sure I learned that in history one year, and said "Hey, so Jesus stole it from this guy!" LOL
Mar 28, 2008. 8:10 AMGoodhart says:
Not really stole it, quoted it: The Sage (Rabbi) Hillel formulated the Golden Rule in order to illustrate the underlying principles of Jewish moral law: That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn. He had been asked to recite the entire Torah while standing on one foot. This was his answer. But, before that, Leviticus 19:18 "Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. Confucius later said in The Analects: Never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself. - Analects XV.24, tr. David Hinton But Jesus never claimed he was teaching something new, it was new to that generation though. Notice how often he can be found accusing them of not reading Torah: "have you not read the law and the prophets?" (Torah and Neviim); you do err not knowing the law, you have not read, and have you not read. He taught from Torah, Neviim, and Ketuvim; so it was not new, nor stolen, just referenced.
Mar 28, 2008. 12:46 PMLabot2001 says:
I stand in wonder at the vast body of knowledge that is Goodhart. Lol, Thanks!
Mar 28, 2008. 2:28 PMGoodhart says:
*blush* you know, I know just enough to know how and what to look up to find the answers to many questions. That is, I am familiar with the ideas a lot of time, but don't always have the particulars "memorized".
Sorry if that deflates your idea of me a little, but I can't accept 100% of the credit ;-)

There are some things I have studied extensively though, just not everything I know something about :-)
and you're welcome
Mar 30, 2008. 9:42 AMWeissensteinburg says:
I think it's kind of funny how a topic that had nothing to do with Christianity, just religion in itself, got so diverted to Christianity. Just goes to show you what kind of reputation they've got.

It appears that noone has a prayer request wesie42. So I'm going to make one. Please delete this forum. It's not said in dissrespect (even though I am an athiest). Every time one of these forums come up it seems to get everyone in a tither. So, I'm trying to take a middle ground. I know that you or anyone else isn't trying to be mean. Just a slight conflict of interests.
Mar 27, 2008. 4:14 PMtech-king says:
i gotta agree. i dont mind you guys preaching, up to a point. give it a few weeks after your how to be cristian instructable before trying anything else. and i really dont like wesie42's avatar.
