Rating system

I'd just like to say two things in relation to the new 'view ratings' feature:

Firstly, while you can now see who rated your project low, this doesn't mean said person hates you.  They probably don't even remember doing it.  Sure, mention it to them (I myself have sent a few choice PMs), but don't dwell on it.  You have probably done it at some point, and would probably rather forget about it.  See this as a chance to correct your mistakes and give older projects a fair rating if you want.

Having said this, I would hate to see people bullied into giving 5* ratings to everything for fear that they may get picked up on the odd 3.5* etc.  As long as you express your honest opinion.

But seriously, ratings on this site are typically ridiculously skewed anyway, so I wouldn't get too hung up over it.  Most people don't care about ratings at all.

How do you check who rated your posts? I can't seem to find it...

So, you can only see who rated your *own* projects.

Interesting (I had a skim over a couple of my projects, and I haven't even heard of some of the low-raters).

It would be interesting to see how rating patterns change in the next few weeks - will more people rate?  Will ratings skew up as people try and avoid being seen to be bad raters?  Or will they skew down as people avoid looking as if they are too generous?

Well, I don't think there's much chance amongst K'nexers of people wanting not to seem to generous...

To be honest I think it will change project to project.  Good ones will probably get rated higher by everyone, bad ones will probably be rated lower by everyone.

Depending on the results of that information-gathering exercise, it might then be interesting to see what effect it has to make all raters visible to all registered users...

I think the new openness will encourage people to vote more fairly and less through jealousy of someone having a better project than they.
Nah, I just atomic bombed someone's ratings out of spite because they carpet bombed mine out of spite.  I know they don't mean anything in all reality, but that still doesn't mean I can't hate on people who hate me.
Yep, pretty much what I'd expect.
Do unto others as they do unto you - no, wait...
I think a much better policy is Do unto others first, before they get an opportunity.  The preemptive strike is a sound policy :-)
