People can post links to your projects on their FB pages.

Instructables itself has an account, so maybe they posted it?

Oh, I thought referrers meant when someone found the ible' using a site other than instructables. So are you saying it means when someone posts a link to your ible'?
Yes. Technically, "referrer" means the Web site (or individual Web page) from which someone followed a link to get to your I'ble. That's why your referrer's list includes search engines like Google, or (if you're lucky!) various DIY blogs.

If you've seen the little grey box at the top of everything, with "FACEBOOK TWITTER EMAIL FLAG", that is one method by which someone reading your I'ble now can generate future "referrer" entries.

BTW - Do you know of a way to find out who posted the link in facebook?
Not as far as I know. Unless you have a way to search all of Facebook for the URL.

Now, Instructables internally "has" this information, in the sense that when a link is followed, the HTTP protocol sent by the browser includes a "REFFERER=...." key/value pair with the complete URL of the parent page. I don't know whether I'bles saves the whole URL, or strips it on-the-fly and saves only the hostname. If they don't save the whole value, then the information is gone.
Searching the title often brings up the share but you'll need a facebook account to do it...

That's to bad, I don't have a Facebook account so I probably can't search it throughly... oh well... thanks for all the info though!
