Remembrance

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old,
Age shall not wither them nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We shall remember them.
We shall remember them.

Laurence Binyon, September 1914

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McCrae, May 1915

Outstanding parade this year - the rain held off, and all the Cubs were well behaved.

You were in Chicago?!? Did the White Sox also behave well?

We remembered the Pearl Harbor wounded and rebuilt dreadnaught ship NEVADA
that served as support invading the german held Europe and later iwo jima in the Pacific
surviving a kamikaze strike before being de-comissioned to 5 miles under in Hawaii...
