Remove short-circuit protection from a psu.

Hi, i'm new here and i have a little problem.
I want to make a soldering iron because mine is broken.
I have a ATX PSU, but when i short circuit the 12v(16a) output the PSU shutdown. I want to remove the short-circuit protection  from my psu, how i do ?
I'm begginer in the electronics, so please help me step by step.
BTW, Sorry for my crappy english, i'm just a romanian guy :P

no, i use just the iron, not the heating bobine. the heating bobine is broken and i remove it. i just want to make the heating bobine...
So are you trying to make a new iron or fix the old one? If the bobine is the only thing that broke and the heating element wrapped around the bobine is fine then buy a new bobine for it and move on.

For a heating elemnt i used a dead solder iron, i removed the broken heating elemnt, and i take some isolated cooper wire from an old transformer. Now i mount all togheter and i make connection from 3.3v from psu. It's heating now, but is hard to heat, any ideeas to make a diy soldering iron ?
A heating element from an old soldering iron is made for AC and won't heat up well will a small DC current. You need to find another heating element or try a different project. You don't want to be playing with mains power as a beginner project.
What ever you do: Do not sabotage safety protections (at least unless you know exactly what you are doing). They are there for a reason.

The heating element in a soldering iron is not just a piece of wire. Well, in a sense, it is, but it is a special wire with a selected resistance and designed / manufactured to withstand the heat.

If the over current protection in your PSU triggers, that means that there was ... well, an over current. The protection triggered not to annoy you, but to protect the PSU. Without it, you would get the high current for a short period of time and after that nothing at all any more from the PSU because it would have fried itself.

Btw, as much as I value DIY and granted, I don't know how easy it is to buy electronics stuff, a unregulated soldering iron should be cheap enough to buy.

i understand but, i have another soldering iron, just i want to make my first diy using just my scrap:P
You really don’t want to do that unless you want to burn down the house.

First of all its an over current protection circuit and you don't want to do that. If you remove the protection you'll burn out the transformer in the PSU and you will have a dead PSU.

If your building the iron correctly you won't be shorting the PSU. What are you using as your heating element? Your heating element isn't a short and will have some resistance to it so it creates a load for the power supply. You should choose your heating element so it stays within the max amperage output of the PSU so you don't trip any over current protection.

For a 30W iron at 12V you should only be pulling 2A which should be well within the specs of most PSUs made in the last few years.
