Sensor to eventually measure weight ( up to 250 lbs)

Hi everyone,
I am stuck trying to find a method or sensor to do what I want. Basically, I am trying to make a cheap flat weight scale- light weight and portable; thinner than using load cell sensors. I was hoping for a flat compression fabric or piezo resistive pressure sensor, but have not found what I was looking for. Does something like this exist?

Sorry, I had trouble getting a sample of the QTC pill at the time. I have since moved on to something else, but thanks for the follow up. I should revisit this project to see what I think now that time has passed. I can not believe it has been 4 years....

Hi Lyla... did it work ? the QTC pill.. ?

It sounds like you need Quantum Tunnelling Composite (QTC), which draws no current when its under no load.  I've seen it used in rectangular pellets only a couple of millimetres thick.

You could contact the manufacturer (see link), explain that you're doing a design project, and ask for samples to realise it.

Found it on sale: QTC pills.
WOW what a great link.

It looks promising. Based on the link, it looks like the pressure is measureable.

I will contact them tomorrow.

Many thanks,
