Snail-mail PMs

I've been experiencing very slow PMs recently, typically a delay of two days between pressing send and the message being received.

The same has been happening the other way as well.

Is it just me, or is something wrong?

As an aside, I am typing this on a borrowed EeePC. Odd little beast.

<Re: Aside>

What model is the Eee? I'm looking into getting a netbook, but I'm waiting for the GN40 chipset to come out. My friend has the 900HA, and it is a nice piece of hardware.

Errr... It says "4G" underneath. Is that any help?
Probably the surf 4g then, one of the very first models they did.

I borrowed it from school (turns out the IT department bought two, without an idea for their use in mind, so they've been sitting in a cupboard). I'm just playing with it to see if it's worth buying one for Roger-X, since his "need" for internet access is growing. If this is a relatively basic model, then I'll probably be quite happy getting one for him.
The 4G's are, IIRC, 7" models, which have been phased out. The smallest netbooks you can get now are 9" models, starting at $200 USD for models with lower-capacity solid state disks and about $250 for models with higher-capacity hard drives. The particular model I like is the 1000HA, which sells for about $350. It packs a 10" screen, 92% keyboard, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and Intel Atom n270 processor. But as I've said, I'm waiting for the GN40 :P

The Eeepc website is still advertising the 7" models, so I guess they aren't completely gone.
Aha, you're right. Well, I can't find any US retailers that sell them, at any rate.

There's not many in the UK, except on ebay. Plenty of 9", but I like the tininess of the 7" - it's smaller than my old ZX81!
TBH, the chassis are the same size, they just put a smaller screen in the 7" (resulting in a lighter weight, of course), unless that's what you mean by "tininess". Don't think I'm trying to turn you away from the 7" models, because my friend who has a 9" had a 7" before that, and it was still a great portable. I think his was the 701 model with 4GB SSD. He had an 8GB SDHC card that he put videos on, and used the SSD for his OS (Windows XP + a few programs WILL fit on just under 4GB).

I have now purchased a 4G from ebay. I'm just waiting for it to arrive.
Awesome! Make sure you post a forum topic with pics once it arrives.
> ZX81 . Wow! That brings back some memories. There's a ZX80 in the bottom of a box (somewhere) in my garage.
Wow, I had to google that. Is this the netbook of yesteryear? x]
EEEpcs are nice, but I heard that the Intel Classmate Netbook is awesome.
Oh yes, if you want a recommendation for a netbook, the 900HA is really nice for the $300 price tag, if you don't mind the (IMHO) tiny keyboard (you get used to it, though).

I may have had the same problem, but I am not sure because it was with BQ, but when I PM'ed noahw it came back in around 30 minutes or less.

. Same here. mcraghead and I were exchanging PMs and the delays became intolerable so we switched to e-mail.

Yes, i noticed this, a PM that Rainy sent me took about 2 days.
Kiteman (author)  gmjhowe5 years ago
Same here, and vice versa.

I've seen a bit of slowness, of the order "where did Kiteman's message come from - it wasn't there yesterday (beneath that one I already read).

Exactly what I've experienced with PMs from you, ~~Adrian~~ Lithium and a couple of others.

I've known the same happen with SMS, I wonder whether there are any similarities in the systems? L
