Stone Rings

So i have a crush on this girl.  I jokingly proposed to her and we're "getting married".  But she wants a stone ring.  How the hell do i make one?  What should i use to cut it?  I have a shop full of woodworking tools at my great grandfather's, but i don't want to destroy any of his stuff.  If i can get this for her, she'll be super impressed.

Are you sure you did not misunderstand she "wanted a big rock on her finger?" That is an expression used to describe getting a diamond ring...oh, maybe a few carats worth. Good luck.

no no no. She said stone. I've clarified the matter with her. She's getting a wooden ring. And then maybe i'll try stone.
There are jade rings. I'm not sure what other soft stone could be carved and hold its strength when made into a ring. Or take a metal band and encrust it with packed grout. You could mold it and shape it.

It was a joke..lol. She is being overcontrolling about our "Marriage". Handmade stone ring seemed hard, so she suggested it.

if you still want to do it to impress her try soap stone... its easy to work with has a nice look and should be inexpensive

For anyone planning on making stone ring after reading this, don't use sandstone...or whatever sedimentary rock i used. It broke when i dropped it and slid it back to my desk with my foot.
Just order a hematite ring off the net. this place has them for $.39

How about making concrete jewellery?  The raw materials are stone, and you can mould / colour the material to suit your needs.
