Unexpected Finalists
I noticed that only four of the finalists are winning by views or ratings. Why is that? A lot of out of the blue (no offense) Instructables have been promoted to finalists, what is the reason to this? Is this to do with judging or are there other more sinister reasons...

They do seem to be picking finalists by category. The food went up first, then the slideshows and the pumpkins. The winners are selected by a judging panel and not necessarily on views, votes or ratings. There are also some that are leading in views and ratings but not qualified to win prizes (not in the US etc).
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO u cant win if ur not in the us???!?!?!?! Im a US citizen but at the moment have a lithuanian i.p. adress do you mean that i dont get any prizes??!?!?!?!?!
You can win, you just can't collect a prize. Some items can't be shipped outside the USA.
I'm starting to get the impression that much more attention is lavished upon costumes that recreate existing characters, as opposed to any original ideas. This, I just don't understand. I mean, making a convincing Iron Man costume is all well and good, but where is the appreciation for originality?

I don't believe they are finished selecting the finalists yet, so not all of the popular ones have been decided upon. It looks like they are picking finalist for different categories (food and jack-o-lanterns so far.) Just give it some time. :) (Luckily for me, both categories I was most interested again have been selected already.)
