I'm having the same problem. I have a video instructable (vimeo hosted) that simply will not publish no matter what I do ... and I've tried everything. It does have a thumbnail image. I've tried entering the embed code withing the description, or from the field below it. I'm on windows 7 using Firefox, but I tried posting in Chrome. I've changed the Title with and without the exclamation point. Here are 2 screenshots:
Every time I click "publish" from my list of drafts, it sends me to this edit screen. Every time I click the publish tab, it sends me right back to the edit screen with no explanation or any error alerts that I can see.
The only thing that I can think of , is that the box below the description, where you can enter the embed code, does not have a little drop down, to choose what type of video you are posting (vimeo, youtube, etc) like it shows in the "help page". The is no such drop down in the edit page.
Whenever I click "save" it returns me to this edit page, and the embed code I've entered has dissappeared from this box.
You may think it's because I have the iframe entered in the description. But I put that there after I couldn't get it to embed through the box. I've also tried just using the vimeo URL, rather than the embed code. That didn't work. And I checked to make sure it was not https . I am at a loss.
I sure hope this question will post, because last night when trying to post this message on the forum from an iPad, it kept telling I had to enter some text ... as you can see ... that was not the case! BTW, I could not post the video instructable by iPad or by my desktop. Not by Safari, Firefox or Chrome.
I deleted my first attempt and started a new one; still will not post. It always sends me back to the edit page, no matter what.
Can you please paste the URL of the project you are referring to in a reply to me here?
Also, we've noticed that if you have any script blocking browser add-ons (like AdBlock, GreaseMonkey, or LastPass) it can cause errors on our site, like the search function not working. Try disabling any add-ons and refresh the page.
the url is
(hope that works!) I will disable my add-ons and see if that works. If not I will do a screen capture video, maybe.
Hey, you need to post the embed code in the embed code box that is provided. Otherwise it thinks there is no video and won't allow it to be published.
yes, I did that, in every way possible. Hey is a video screen capture of my attempts. And showing how I enabled pop-ups, disabled my AVG protection, and disabled all extensions, plugins and add-ons in Firefox.
As you can see, I try embedding the video every which way, to no avail:
How wierd. Even trying to post an actual link right now, is causing me problems. For second, it shows the vimeo right in the post here. And when I click "post." my entire post is blank. How exasperating!
Posting a Video Instructable Bug
I went to Vimeo to try to look at your video there and it won't let me play it. The page says "We've experienced some player instability due to a DDoS attack, but we're working hard to restore order." I don't know much about vimeo, but could that be causing problems?
Hey, I was able to force it to be published. So all you should need to do is go in and update the category and keywords. Sorry for the trouble. I'm not sure why the embed code just wasn't able to cooperate!
Thank you. I think I'll wait a day or two before trying to post the pre-quel: "Dropcam Birdhouse". I guess the Instructables world will just have to wait in suspense for that exciting episode!
Thanks for your help, Penolopy!
