What Are Your Favorite Inventions?

Just to help me get inspired, I thought it would be a good Idea to ask you guys what your favorite inventions/innovations are. My favorites are the cotton candy machine, the lightbulb, and the telegraph.

Left handed screwdriver....

As a kid, my dad sent me off looking for a metric adjustable wrench.

Oh, the tricks to play on apprentices...
the glass hammer, replacement bubble for the spirit level, or my favourite.. the tartan paint!

I loved sending an apprentice to fetch some blue ignition sparks from storage.
Of course the guy there already knew the demand and packed them in a big black bag.
The poor apprentice was told to avoid any compression, bumping into things or dropping the bag.
Was great watching them handling and empty bag like it is filled with several Ming dynasty vases LOL

Could be worse...

Soap and sanitation in general. We have a lot to thank the Romans for, to quote Monty Python:

All right... all right... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?
