What Is Your Favorite Genre Of Music

What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite artist? What is your favorite song? This is basically my attempt in seeing how many people like what type of music and if rap is becoming more popular than anything else (it's all I see on TV anymore). Please answer these questions or ask more about music in general here. This will also help me get to know you all better and hopefully cause more people to join this group.

Genre: Punk oi oi oi / ska artist: the specials or misfits (with danzig) song: skinhead moonstomp by symarip when it comes to music over all i love punk (mostly oi), ska and pyschobilly oh and when I say ska I mean real ska, not this 3rd wave stuff like less than jake and reel big fish, I'm talking about the specials, the selector, madness that stuff.

Yes, original ska is so much better, especially the English Beat. I also like GodspeedYou! Black Emperor, Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, Neutral Milk Hotel, F*ck Buttons, My Morning Jacket, other varied bands and genres...

British pop. And yes, I do like rap and the hippity hop. I particulary like Kanye, and Timbaland. Right now, my favorite british pop artist is mika. Here's a clip (if I can get it to work).

electric, hiphop, lite rap (none of that dark 50-cent stuff, more like kanye west or outkast, Korean rap is the best) Pretty much anything by Outkast and Kanye west

The Gorillaz newest album doesn't sound like their old album at all, it's too much like a lullaby like their song stop the dams or something.

Hmm. I don't know that I have a favorite genre, honestly. I can tell you want I don't listen to, though. ;) As for favorite artists (can't pick just one, probably leaving some out.) - Tom Petty, Old 97s, Neko Case, Fiona Apple, David Bowie, Jack Johnson, Regina Spektor, Elliot Smith, KT Tunstall, The Clash, Flamng Lips, The Smiths, etc... this entire list used to be punk rock. I've changed a bit. And my favorite song of the moment is probably "I Don't Want You Now" by KT Tunstall. But this changes weekly.

Favorite type of music actually involves a lot of different types: I listen to Classical music mostly, but that involves things from chamber music and symphonies to blasting Beethoven and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

But I like most types of music, from way back up until now. I am not much for Rap, but have a fondness for one "song".

Yup the link works, I like one of the comments right under the clip. It says "F%#%$'n Great!" I believe. I wonder why his comment is scored -1?

I don't know. I do know if you know the story the music on the album (CD) is woven around, that video makes a lot more sense (all the young ladies are Muses, except the first one to enter: that is FATE).

ah, definitely not my thing, i like stuff like 4 skins, the toasters, bad brains, minor threat, black flag, sham 69... lots of Oi!, 2 tone, and hardcore

ah, just be careful saying who you listen to, alot of black metal fans and bands are a bit... erm extremist , such as when burzum and his crew ran around norway burning churches, as well as killing the guitarist in his band mayhem.... Alot of other black metal bands have a great sound but some of them are very anti human to the point where they incorporate many upside down crosses and swastikas into their their logo

Have you heard of the band called deathstares? I think they are good! to my eyes............. whipslasher is dressed as a Hitler most of the time. and most of their songs are about killing and death.

thats industrial, my ex listened to alot of that stuff, its not my thing, but i remember her liking acumen nation and dj acucrack never really like it. but if you want black metal check out these bands

I listen to a lot of power metal. I don't know if it would be considered my favorite, but here lately it has been about 70% of the stuff I have listened to.

I'm willing to bet it's what you watch rather than one genre taking over ;) I, for one, have not noticed this... But my TV is usually on for background noise and is on either the Discovery, History or Food Networks :p

I listen to a few genre's - I can tolerate most.

Currently, I have a Queen CD playing (currently on "Play the Game") :p
