What can be done with the little plastic capsules from Kinder Surprise eggs?

Kinder Surprise eggs are hollow chocolate eggs - the size of a large hen's egg, containing a small toy - usually a clip-together kit of some kind, contained within an ovoid plastic capsule.

The capsules used to be two-part, but have recently switched to having a living hinge attaching the lid section. They're a little under two inches long and about an inch in diameter (the pic in the above link shows the older, two-part design - but they're the same size either way)

Surely there's something useful that could be done with these little plastic containers - they close pretty tightly - so I guess they could be waterproofed pretty easily (LED 'floaties' maybe? - although releasing them into the ocean would be littering)

Fill it with vinegar or lemon juice. Then take a cut off corner of a ziploc bag
and fill it with baking soda. Put it in and close it. Go outside and shake it up then quickly throw it. It should explode in the air and make a little cloud of BS.
Hours of fun.
I saw this great art design for these neat little capsules here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaPvw88DDoU
well i can't really remember how big the capsule is... i had a kinder surprise in hungary when i was a wee one, but i do find numerous things to do with plastic easter eggs... i used mine as a wallet for a while. that was an upgrade from my paperbag... they're really great for travelling. put your jewelery and stuff in there... if you're a femmebot that is... TIME CAPSULE! Write notes to people and put them in the capsules. then throw it at them. The floaties in the fountain is a great idea though. survival kit! put bandaids, q-tips, some string, a piece of candy, that kind of thing. or... use it for condiments when you're bringing your lunch. i used my easter egg to bring eggs and clementines safely to school
hahah "Write notes to people and put them in the capsules. then throw it at them" that made me laugh :D
oh please. like you don't throw capsules at people. ;P

Depending on the plastic, they could be dipped in melted wax to waterproof them for things like floaties. I wouldn't use floaties in natural water areas, but maybe pools or fountains, as long as they are kept out of any filters or skimmers.

Actually, I suppose making a few hundred floaties and releasing them into a public fountain at night (Trafalgar Square, perhaps) would be pretty cool. They would probably clean themselves up, as bystanders would pocket them.
i know i would lol

I've never seen these, but I could see putting a pebble inside and sealing to make a fun cat toy. One could crochet a little "coat" for it to make it snagable.

HA HA HA, I was wondering the same thing. I just used one of these to fix a cable. I ran the cut cable through a hole in each half and tied a knot and then soldered and taped the wires between. After that I wrapped the two pieces with electrical tape to secure. It works nicely as a protective casing for the joint. I'll post pictures later. I LOVE KINDER EGGS!
