Why Are New Comments Going To The Bottom?

Instead of the top? I liked it better the first way, it was easyer to keep track of new comments. If there was a ton of comments, you would have to go to the last page for the new one.

I like it. Actually, I think this is one of the suggestions I made a while back. Much less confusing this way. For longer threads, it might be best to display the page with the most recent comments first though. Depends on how people use the forums really. If they tend to haver ongoing conversations on the same thread over multiple days, they would likely prefer to go straight to the most recent posts. However if people only visit the forms rarely, they may want to start at the beginning of the thread - even if that means they don't read all 50+ responses...

Arguments for consistency are always trumped by arguments for not changing ;-) admittedly, it was a bit troublesome at first to get used to. but think I have the hang of it now.

. Yeah. I've gotten too old to embrace change. ;) . If I had my druthers, the newer posts would be at the top. If there were some way to tell the newest posts (say last 3-4), the sort order wouldn't matter. . I like W'burg's pro choice idea. Why not a sort gizmo so we can sort it several different ways? Since I don't have to do the programming, I'll say it must be easy to implement. heehee

No one is too old to embrace change......getting older IS change LOL

Yes it keeps it in order, kinda, but if you want to read the mnost recent you have to scroll all the way down, or if you think the oldest is the newest you could be giving useless info.

Well, I am not sure if it is better, but I am not sure it is worse....it is definitely different. But I did notice that things organized themselves this way in the past, once the page spilled onto the second page, everything just went to the bottom. Now, it is consistent.

even if not a reply, it keeps them chronological. That is the only benefit I see in it. it stays organized
Nov 15, 2007. 7:10 PMguyfrom7up says:
yeah, I don't like that!

This does keep things "in order". B4, I noticed if I posted in reply, the posts linked to my reply's "chain" or thread would move to the top, keeping segments together. But if it spilled into a second page, it seemed as though "all bets were off".
