Will the Waves ever Die?

Think about it, the age is the Digital Dawn of the day, anologue Television is already being planned to me completely removed from the air waves in 2009 to make way for the "supposedly" DIGITAL SUPURIOUR HD crap. I don't watch that much TV to begin with so it doesn't bother me. But what about FM radio, is that ever going to die? Chances are probably not for a few years, seeing how the AM spectrum is still kicking around. How long can our traditional ways last? I'd be fairly sad to see FM leave the game. Really, we've had radio since the dawn of the technical age, from the 40's through the 80's (remember the days?). I just wanna see what anyone else has to say.

. I say you're much too young to be getting nostalgic - leave that to me and Goodhart. Embrace change and have a good Life.

I feel nostalgia through my soul, and it burns with a passion. Yeah you're right, I wasn't around in the 80's, but I wish I was, just from what I've learned about what there was back then. Makes me miss the simpler times, even back in the 90s when I was a young buckaroo, the atmosphere was just... different.

The 80's weren't all that great, either. All my friends parents were getting downsized - the early 80's had some pretty tough financial times.AIDS was just starting and was one of the most frightening things imaginable. USSR was still a threat and pretty scary. Mauve carpet was in style - yuck. Radio Shack wasn't a cell phone store, yet - and reasonably priced. Mainstream music was crap back then. too. Rap was just starting . Madonna was hot , Return of the Jedi just came out - mmm ... Princess Leah But then some things got better and some got worse. It's all in how you frame things. Man, am I an oldster here? When did the 80's become nostalgic? :)

The 80's were probably better than you think, and the times were probably better than they are today. In 20 years, we're gonna be looking at "2000" just like we're looking at the 80's at this prescent day. Don't foget we had the nice little 9/11 scene, I'm pretty sure any date before then was probably better. And yes, Radioshack used to actually be ran by some somewhat normal people with somewhat normal prices!! Pfff say goodbye to that now and hellow circuit city corp. (bullshit). I enjoy some of the 80's rap. Just think, 50, biggie, Pac, wouldn't have been the start of them without those crazy guys in yellow jumpsuits spinning around on their heads. Madonna was "exceptional" for her age, but now her music is just as bad as MJ's. 80's were also the "mainstream" era for star wars, mmmm starfighters. Oldster? I don't know, how "oldster" are you? And the 80's became nostalgic when dial up was phazed out in the 90's. :p

mid 30's so I pretty much remember the 80's and 90's ... the 70' are a little hazy - probably for a lot of people from what I understand nudge> :) I think it depends what part of the country and how you grow up. We lived in the rust belt and got hit pretty hard economically. The 90's got better but good jobs have never really recovered well in these parts. We had our 1st child in July 2001, so 9/11 was pretty weird - I remember apologizing to this little innocent child for the crazy world we brought him into. I try not to get nostalgic about anything these days, but try to live consciously and enjoy the good that I have right now. Of course, it doesn't always work, but it helps. I'm happier today than I've ever been and it's mostly just a decision to be so.

No more FM, means no more NPR. That would be terrible.
