XP Drivers

I bought a Compaq Presario F700 Notebook PC but it came with vista. i gave it a try but did not like it. so i bought windows xp PRO i installed and there wasn't any problems. but i need some drivers which i could not find. if you can help me please do so. in the picture you can see that i am missing some drivers but i cant seem to find them if you need more information please feel free to contact me.

COMPAQ PRESARIO F700 AND G6000 SERIES WITH A AMD PROCESSOR (ONLY) XP DRIVERS

Please follow farther down the thread to select your exact series

CHIPSET:

DO NOT RUN THE SOFTWARE (SETUP EXE FILE). Instead, download the file and extract the files to a folder. Manually install the SM BUS controller and the Coprocessor through the device manager. DO NOT install the LAN driver. Results will be a BSOD.
If the Coprocessor fails to install you may use this driver:

It is the 2nd one from the BOTTOM of the list.
Download and install, then REBOOT.
DO NOT install the LAN Driver. The result will be a BSOD!

You should beable to get ON-LINEvia your LAN connection. DO a full MS Update. You will need XP SP2. DO NOTinstall SP3 until ALL your drivers are installed and running correctly.

You will also need:

Net. Framework 2.0. This can be downloaded here:

Install and REBOOT.

Once this is done you may proceed:

ATHEROS WLAN:

Download and run SETUP EXE., then REBOOT.

BROADCOM WLAN:

Download and run SETUP EXE., then REBOOT.
The Broadcom Wlan is untested as most of these laptops have the Atheros Wlan.

MS UAA:

Download and run SETUP EXE., then REBOOT.

AUDIO:

Extract Files to a folder. Run the installer. If it errors upon installation use device Manager.
From Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD".
Choose Update driver.
Check no to connect.
Install from a list or specific location.
Don't search I will choose the driver to install.
In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers.
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.
REBOOT.

Extract Files to a folder. Manually install the modem driver through the device manager (Similar to the AUDIO Driver)and REBOOT

Extract the file to a folder. Manually install the web cam driver through the device manager, then REBOOT.

OK i have sound now. i got the drivers for all but the Base system devices and my head phones have stopped working. i Know it is not a hardware problem but a driver problem. i think its one of the 3 missing drivers but does any one have any ideas. and ill try the ubuntu thing later

take the CD that came with your PC, install the drivers off of it

boot any linux CD if you are not in the console find it in the menu and open it log in as the user 'root' if you allready are logged in as other user enter 'sudo bash' in ubuntu or 'su' in other linux enter 'lspci' (there are also 'lsusb' and 'lspcmcia') that should give you accurate list of all your pci cards

i think i did it. i went to this link and i found the drivers i needed. but i yet to reboot to see if it worked so ill post the results later

These are always fun lol :) Open ur pc and see if you can see the brand/model of the audio card (or motherboard if its integrated) Then it should be easy to find them

yea i dont have access to the inside of my comp
. Then go to the laptop manufacturer's site and lookup the specs. It should tell you which chip they use. Probably have the proper driver, too.
