You Have Too Much Time On Your Hands

So right now I'm up late, preparing resume's, writing eMail, general get stuff done until exhausted mode... And this is bothering me (of all things)...

Has anyone ever told you - "You have too much time on your hands?" Or have you ever seen someone say that someone else has "Too much time on their hands?"

Does this bother you? Hearing other people say this... And what makes them so qualified to make this assertion?

Because yes, people have said I have too much time on my hands after seeing some of my creations. Really? I have too much time on my hands? Hell, I've been working hard building this damn thing and I have too much time? Where exactly is this "time" - was I stroking off as it passed by only aware of the moments I was working on something?

So what do you have to show for yourself for all the time you don't have? I mean, someone busy enough to claim someone else has "too much time" ought to have done something worthwhile. Perhaps I'm mounting a horse of appreciable height by saying the previous sentences - but how off base am I here? Does anyone else feel slightly perturbed by the too much time comment?

Don't get me wrong - I don't expect everyone to like everything. But I'd much rather prefer someone saying "I don't like it" rather than claiming the efforts of my being are useless. AND, even when people do say such things - it doesn't stop me or prevent me from continuing, it's just a tad bit annoying in the not able to find a matching sock sort of way.

what makes people able to tell people that they.... is tht they compare thier time to thiers. if they have more time then them they would say it. it also might be as a joke to say "you wasted your time to do a stupid thing like that?!?!" i feel a butterly effect of arguments coming on...

i wash my hands regularly to prevent the spread of disease. hopefully, i washed off exess time too. generally speaking, people say you have to much time when you build somthing that looks good but has no functional purpose. example: red bull art of the can. butiful, but nicknacs none the less.

I have heard and used the term many a time. I have also been told it many a time.
I feel it's not an insult as it is an admiration, they wish they could do something, but they don't have time/resources to do it. So sour grapes, they insult the creator.

I personally welcome the comment =)

What's this time stuff you talk of? I have no time on my hands anymore - but occasionally I get to take a 5 minute break so that I don't explode - which is when my mom generally yells at me for not doing work. I've gotten that comment quite a bit recently, too. I wore my LED heart shirt the other day and, although "wow" or "cool" was the general trend, I did receive a few "jeez... you have ..." yeah. These other people don't realize how freaking busy (almost) all of us instructablers are.. we're hardworking people! Oh, and I just recruited a friend of mine to instructables (+1 for muffinator) - she posted the neurobiologial research topic.

I can say that i have too much time on my hands due to a lack of stuff going on but the result is that I post lots of projects and use the time on my hands, I have turned the sitting at home bored to busy as hell life and It's good having stuff to do but also stuff to show for your time...
