bballkidx's Hammered Pistol - Review
This gun is not as amazing as it has been made out to be. Granted, the hammer mech is kinda cool, and the way it was pulled off was not bad at all, but the way it was made on the whole needs to be spoken of.
Pros: The hammer mechanism is great. It works efficiently and well, and it gives an "old-time-feel" to this gun. The trigger also works effectually, and keeps the hammer from moving every time. The loading process works well too. You pull the hammer back all the way, you push a round into the barrel, you pull the trigger, and then you repeat. Part of the reason, I think, that this gun works so well is because it is very simple, which is more than can be said for most guns (many of my guns included).
Cons: The body. It is very hard to hold and looks like he (the creator) just slapped some parts on to the mechanism. This really does take away a lot of the ability of this gun, because you cannot hold it without being uncomfortable. You have to hold your hand in such a weird position, and the position of the handle is so low, that you can hardly reach the trigger. Lastly, the firing mech is very inconsistant. Some times if fires, sometimes it does not.
Overall: I would suggest you build this gun...only if you want to get a idea of how a hammer gun should work. But don't come expecting a epic hammer gun that gets (as he claims) 30 ft. I fired this gun at least 20 times, and I doubt that it would get 10 ft. Now, I don't want to offend the author at all, and he has a great starting point, but he should have put more work into the gun overall.
