laptop cooler

my laptop gets really hot after about 30 minutes of Internet browsing and after 1 hour of gaming (I don't know why maybe because of the modem????) so I really need a cooler. I have three 1 or 2 inch (let me know if a need exact) fans I could use and wood legos knex and rokenbok. I have a hp pavilion dv6409us laptop with a 17.5 inch screen. if you need a picture of the bottom of the laptop so I can show you the hot spots and the fan let me know.

. Laptops just naturally run hot. :( Providing a gap between the laptop and whatever it is sitting on will allow for better air circulation which should bring the temp down a little bit. Whatever you do, don't expect miracles. . Giving the fans and heatsinks a good dusting will probably help. . The modem probably doesn't produce that much extra heat. I'm surprised that your gaming (usually GPU heavy) doesn't make it heat up fastest. . If you can reduce the CPU clock speed, that will make it run cooler. Probably not an option you want to use. :)

i think my modem might run hot because of dial up i have the fan portion of the laptop hanging off of the table i have it on so it gets good circulation and how do you know how hot is too hot i used a infared thermometer and it said 116 and ive only ben on for an hour
. My rule of thumb is; if you can't hold your hand on it for five seconds, it's too hot.
