not getting email updates on new instructables

hi, any body know why i`m not getting any new instructables sentt o  my email adddress ? EVERYTHING is as it should be correct email address etc....

Have you ever received emails for new instructables? or did it just stop working?

Either way, you should check your settings. Go to your profile page ("You") and click on the "Settings" tab, and click on the text link for "Email Alerts".

To the right of the title "Email Alerts", you should see your email address. (That should help you to verify what address the emails will be sent to).

Then make sure there is a checkmark in the box for "Following", and select one of the options for how frequently you want to get updates (i.e.: "as they are made", "once an hour", "once a day" or "once a week"). ~ Click on the "Update Settings" button if you make any changes.

yep double and tripple checked email address, and i dont have a junk or spam filter...

this is drivin me nuts, but i`m getting responses from this question sent thru to me email, but no new instructables.
Can you tell me;

1. Have you ever received emails for new instructables?
2. Does the checkbox for "following" have a checkmark?
3. How frequently is the "following" set to?
("as they are made", "once an hour", "once a day" or "once a week")
4. How many members are you following?
(click on "following" below your profile picture on your profile page. The URL is http://www.instructables.com/you/subscriptions)
5. Have you checked to see that the members you are following have posted any new instructables?

6. Does your "Settings" options look something like this?

1, yes i have , with my old email address, i now have a differant one, which shows up in the settings options.

2 . yes.

3. all 3 are set to : " as they are made "

4. i am following no members.

Okay... I understand the problem.

You are not getting emails for new instructables because you are NOT following any members!

The system is set up to send you email notifications based on the members YOU follow and the Instructables they publish. So to correct this problem, you need to start following members (who have projects that you like), and then when they publish something new you will get an email about them "as they are made".

????? weird , i NEVER HAVE FOLLOWED any members and i use to get notification of new instructables...
Yes, that is a little weird. Maybe mikeasaurus can explain how you might have received emails without following anyone (because I don't know how you would). The only other thing I can think of is the "Instructables Newsletter". Could that be what you mean? That's the email that's sent out with a variety of featured instructables, (and not just a notice about one new instructable). If that's what you're missing, you can sign up for it by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and put your new email address into the "enter email" box and click on the "join" button. That will get you the regular newsletter email.

already done that !!!!! put me email in the box at bottom of page, still havent received anything !!!!

There's a newsletter going out by email today, so if by the end of the day you still haven't received it, reply back here and let us know. (Make sure to check your junk folder also).

this is getting strange , i just happen to check me email alert preferences and SOMEHOW non of them where checked , even thought the several other times i checked them before , they where !!!! i`ll try signing up for news letter again at bottom of page................
I don't know if you signed up again or not, but there was another newsletter sent out this morning (pacific standard time/morning), in case you want to check for it, otherwise, like I mentioned before, you should PM StumpChunkman.

Just so you know... you might not hear anything back until tomorrow (or when he has some info to share). It's only late Sunday afternoon here.
Okay, now that is strange... Make sure you click the button to save the changes to your settings, and PM StumpChunkman. There won't be another newsletter sent out until next week so, it'll be faster for him to look into it then for you to sign up again and wait til next week.
You'll have to PM your email address to StumpChunkman and ask him to check the database to ensure you're on the list and to see why you might not be getting the newsletter. (I'd do it, but I don't have the access).

Hey krawczuk. I think there's a chance this may be a case of mistaken identity.

There are two different email databases on our website.

The first is when you create an account. An email address is associated with that account, and any updates made on the site in association with that account are emailed to you. This updates involve people you're following, charges you might incur, comments made on something you made or wrote, etc.

The second type of email we send out are newsletters. We don't want to force people to sign up for newsletters when they make an account, so it's a completely voluntary thing. Every week, you'll receive an email containing highlighted instructables from the last week, as well as information on contests and other goings on at instructables.

I think there's a good change you were receiving the second one before and when you upgraded your address through your user profile, it didn't update the newsletter setting (as they are totally unconnected).

If you'd like to receive the newsletter again, at the bottom of every page you should see a box you can enter your email in to join up.

Have you checked your junk folder? Sometimes emails end up there if you haven't approved the sender (...@instructables.com).

I can verify your email address if you send me a Private Message with your signup address.
