Thank you so much!!! The OLIVE OIL Worked. FAST. Took 3 seconds and off it came. Rubbed it all over the duct tape an it came right off. Then I used Dawn liquid soap to remove the olive oil. Gave foot a good rinse and all better. Happy Dog. ??

I just had this happen with my Shih Tzu. He somehow got a piece of duct tape on the bottom of his paw. A big thanks for the Olive Oil suggestion. It worked like a champ. I suggest using Dawn dish soap to clean off the OO residue.

Here's another hint: Go to your local drug store and get an "eye brow/lash" scissors. They make various types. I got one that is slightly curved with a blunt tip. It's great for clipping knots, cutting out brambles and similar tasks.

Thank you so muh you helped us with our Scottie!! We tried for 30 min to cut/rip the duct tape off, and it was getting so frustrating! Thank you SO much!! This worked so well!

I'm way too late for this, but for anyone else who may need to remove adhesives from an animal, use olive oil. the oil will easily cause the adhesive to pull away without harming the animal, the same way you would remove a mouse from a glue trap.

OMG....Thank you...Thank you...Thank you...Our Dog..Tigger..part Shihzhu and Havanese will not let you touch his feet...The Olive oil worked so quickly after dunking his foot into it and then rubbing it gently...It was a pure miracle...so blessed my husband looked it up and found your suggestion and so truly blessed that it worked...And he got to lick while i rubbed so he was happy...I am happy..Bless your heart for posting..Happy Merry Christmas and New Years

Thank you so much for this suggestion! Our chiweenie got a large piece of gorilla tape stuck to her belly. I googled how to remove duct tape from a dog & found this thread. I poured olive oil on her belly, then put gentle tension on the tape with one hand while rubbing oil into the edge of the adhered area with the other hand. It gradually came free, without hurting her at all!

Ironically, her name is Olive, and she's named after Popeye's girlfriend Olive Oyl!

Nick, you've saved my pet!! OH MY GOSH!!! I'm sooo glad I decided to google, "how to get duck tape off a dog's paw!" I looked at all the post for this question, and I thought yours would be less painful and stressful to my dog AND myself!! After trying to slowly pull the tape off her paw, slowly pulling the hair away from duck tape, It was so heartbreaking to see how painful and stressed out she was. I wished I had looked sooner!! So I grabbed my extra virgin olive oil out of the cupboard, wrapped her under the covers because previously it wasn't working, her kicking, me screaming lol!! Then I used a towel so it didn't get all over my bedspread. I poured it on and BAMM it worked GRRRREAT!!! Thank you SOOO much for posting your comment, even way after the fact and u didn't even have to because it was way after the fact, but instead u wanted to help the next person looking, it truly helped us both!! I felt horrible seeing her freaking out and in pain as I tried getting it off, prior to checking ur comment. I even signed up for this site JUST to tell you THANK YOU!!! Take care and God Bless you
