This entirely depends on the switch itself! With 4 contacts you could have 2 seperate switches as SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw), one DPST (double pole single throw) with two connectors as the common contact or a SPST (single pole single throw) with both contacts shared between two connectors. The only way to determine which of these you have requires looking up the part number or buzzing out the switch with an ohm-meter to test each possible connection.
