to take over or not to take over the world

If you could (assuming you can't) take over the world, would you do it? Why or why not?

Personally, I wouldn't. (Assuming it takes war and violence to do so. Peace, man! :-D)

But I don't think it is possible to take over the world; not even with the largest army and most advanced weapons in the world. This is because, even if you keep destroying everything and killing everyone, there will always be someone who wants to restore power to the people. (rebels) So, in fact, to conquer the world and to ensure it will remain that way, you will have to kill everyone on it :-)
This statement would also mean that no goverment should be able to hold the power.

So the US goverment should eventually be overrun by rebels who don't agree with it.

Just thinking further on your statement.

Also you don't need violence to conquer the world. Just something to keep the world threathend enough so you can seize control. Like if you would be able to controll the acces to electricity everybody would bend down to your wishes. Because if you could controll which country gets power and which not you could send country's back to the dark ages and make them thrid world countries in a matter of months... Power doesn't always come from violence my friend ;)

First of all, I find your statments very interesting, and suddenly I discovered another way to conquer the world; by threatening to destroy it or disrupt it's infrastructure.

Still, I keep to my statement that conquering the world and keeping it is not possibele, for the following reason.

When looking over the course of history, it's true that no goverment can hold power. A few examples: the Roman empire. The romans were so big, so powerful, and so threatening, that dozens of countries have tried to bring it on it knees. (which eventually happened.) Or World war II. In 1938, America was the biggest economic superpower in the world. One of Hitler's goals was to form a fist against the strong American economy, to even the odds.

What I'm trying to say is, that there will always be an enemy of the largest country, alliance, empire, etc, that is currently ruling over an area. There will always be people that want to take it over or crush it. It is inevitable. So, if you were able to control electricity flow, there will be an organisation with the aim to try and kill you, and restore power to the people. Power doesn't has to come from violence, but will always encounter it. It is our agressive nature. It is inevitable.

Or at least, that's what I think.
I can't agree more with you.

I never stated that I could hold the power. Nobody can! But if I should conquer the world that is how I would do it. Take something every person needs every day and threathen to take it away. Like some oil countries are doing with gas nowadays. If the countries do not listen to them they cut off supply. Russia is a great example of this. They cut of the gas to a neighbourcountry that refused  to pay more for their gas.

Also keep in mind that as soon as the face of leadership disappears either the inheritents or the opposition gains control. And usually those people change their course drasticly.

It's like the saying "everyone gets 15 minutes of fame" well  everybody also has the chance for 15 minutes of world domination. Few takers though.... probably because most people end up dead...
Agreed. Conquering the world is quite an interesting subject, isnt it?
"could send country's back to the dark ages and make them thrid world countries in a matter of months"

Thank you very much!  So you need a few months of the "dark ages" to be where we are now!  ;->

"Because it's something I want to do." L
Out of curiosity, I looked up some of their quotes and now I am not so remiss that I missed seeing most of them LOL
I'm not sure what you mean. I think either you're not bothered that you've not watched Pinky & The Brain, or that you are?

remiss adj. careless of duty; lax, negligent.
