This would usually happen if found to have been creating multiple accounts from one IP adress, just to get votes. Im not saying it was you who did it.

So someone made more than one account just to vote for me? Well, if they do it again it doesn't really matter because the votes get taken off, right? The only negative effect it would have is that maybe people would vote for a lower down instructable if they thought I didn't need the votes. And it gives me false hopes :(

They take the top twelve in voting, and twelve other instructables that they feel best represent the contest. So unlucky, you missed out on an automatic spot in the final by one place in the voting. I feel so sorry for you.

When the voting phase is over, the judges go through the votes and remove the ones that appear to be "ghosts" - votes from people who registered on that day, and the only thing they did was vote. This is a method of keeping things fair, so that you can't "stuff the ballot box" with fake votes and shoot your ranking up to the top.

Thanks for telling me, I wish I known beforehand. I had told a large number of people who have participated in my project that they could vote, not knowing that they wouldn't be counted. I guess I played the fool on this one. Maybe it can be explained in the rules next time...

Is it a mac or a pc? PC's can have ubuntu, Linux, or windows on them. Macintosh (macs) can only have Mac OS 9 Classic (or if you are really out of style, 1.0 to 9.0) or Mac OS X (10) which includes: Public Beta, Puma, Jaguar, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, etc.

I think you're highly confused. Ubuntu is a linux distribution, it isn't a different operating system, as for Mac OS, Puma and Cheetah aren't the names of any of them. Panther, Jaguar, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, that is public internet information, using google prior to posting isn't difficult, and prevents you from confusing people with lesser knowledge in the area.
