Kudos to all the bike participants! I think we all advanced the state of the art of home built bikery in several fun directions! I was able to get hold of Ellenhereandthere (who is in the middle of a cross country bike tour!) and she said she will relish using the REI gift certificate. Happy Trails to all.

I guess, since I added my instructable yesterday, before the deadline, it is still in the process of being accepted? I just wanted to say that I think it is a bit of an disadvantage that, everytime I submit an Ible just before the deadline (that's the way creative people work ;-) ) voting is already started.

W00T! Its 10:52pm here, just got my 'Ible submitted! :D I hope its accepted because I never got a good answer as to whether I could submit a motorcycle 'Ible. I don't see any problem with it, its still a bike, but we will see. Does it say anywhere that it has to be a PEDAL powered bike?

ugh, I'll never get around to this in time, BUT.... Please please please, someone do an instructable on making a recumbant, but the coolest of them all the tadpole! 2 wheels infront do the steering, single tire in the rear is the drive. Yep, there is a picture of one here, but no actual directions, or rather "instruct"ions. I double triple double dog dare someone to do it!
May 13, 2011. 6:24 AMestructor says:
Hi iminthebathroom, you posted this dare on April 27th-and now, as of the second week of May there's a tadpole type recumbant in this contest! As you've already seen over at my instructable, (thanks for the comments, too) someone (humbly yours) did fulfill your 'triple dog dare'!
Folks here can see it above, the orange-canopied Three Wheel Bike Car. The most fun I've had on a pedaled vehicle in years.
May 12, 2011. 3:23 PMdanderson-3 says:
I made a tadpole last year. Electric wheel chair wheels in front. 26" wheel in back.
Beach chair for seat. 21 speed. 15 degrees camber and 15 degrees caster in the steering. 1"x 2" tube steel. It weighs 52 lbs. If I could weld aluminum it would weigh less. I will try to show a picture. I do have a few pictures of the construction.
May 12, 2011. 3:30 PMiminthebathroom says:
That would be amazing, thanks. Did you have purchased plans or... Was looking at building one, but incorporating a second chain to run a 24 volt wheel chair motor geared of a second chain hub, similar to what the setup they use on those little single piston motors to add to bikes
May 12, 2011. 5:18 PMdanderson-3 says:
No plans. I rented a factory tadpole for a hour ride. I ended up measuring the thing all over. Came home started to make one. By the way that is my 86 year old Dad in the picture.

Are we restricted to one youtube video? I seem to have trouble adding a 2nd embed code for youtube.
May 9, 2011. 2:51 AMiminthebathroom says:
Nope, I put multiple videos on the same step and spread through out my instructables. Sometimes depending on what browser your running can cause issues. Go back into edit mode, and where you put the link for the first video, make sure to hit return a couple times to space it out a bit, then insert your next vid. If the link function isn't working for you, try copying the link directly by selecting (source) and pasting it in that way. When i have video issues I go that route. In addition check the Bug section under forums, towards the bottom in the help section.

AAAAHHH! If only I had known this contest was coming up! I totally would have saved my tandem build instructable for this contest. Oh well. I'm excited to see what people will come up with.

I am SOOOOO in!! :D Just wait for the BEST entry yet! I have to be strategic and I need to get the equipment. :)

We can do ANYTHING to deck out the bikes, or are we limited to 'accessories'?
Apr 25, 2011. 3:12 PMCivicalized says:
I haven't submitted an instructable yet let alone a contest. Are you limited to only one entry?
May 2, 2011. 6:03 AMTSC says:
Multiple entries are accepted, but each entrant can only win one prize.

Are only pedal bikes eligible or can I do a motorbike project? Also, since I am doing a very large project that won't be completely finished by the deadline, can I:

1) Make "Parts", so enter Part 1 of my build into the contest and finish the rest later?

2) Do as much as I can and submit it just before the deadline with the last step stating, "To be continued" or, "Updated regularly" or something about it needing to be in for this contest and that it will be finished later?

Something that allows me o still enter it, without having to finish it, because there is no way of finishing my project in that amount of time and the time I have available.

I'm sorry, at the risk of being flamed; "...how to do you win..." It sounds as though that automatic fill-in function had a little hick-up. My point; don't be too reliant upon a computer - the one between your ears is capable of so much subtlety and beauty - feed it well and exercise it regularly, remember G.I.G.O.
