Congratulations to everyone! It might spell out a heart attack, but I'll have to try to cook my way through the finalists :-)

May 16, 2011. 4:21 AMoldanvilyoungsmith says:
Why do you have to create an instructable after the contest begins? It just encourages authors to hold back "ibles" until a contest comes out.

Just a thought (As I'm wishing I hadn't published my featured biscuit "ible" yet).
May 25, 2011. 11:18 PMcanida says:
I hear you - it's frustrating to have just missed a contest! That's why we're trying to let you know ahead of time what's on the contest calendar. Keep an eye on the author newsletter for updates.

On the other hand, you don't want to have to compete against 50,000 previously-posted projects! Date cut-offs can also work in your favor.
May 18, 2011. 7:28 AMmousewrites says:
Likely because the contests are about driving new and high-quality (hopefully) content; people want to win something, so they create a new instructable that fits the theme, and make it as good as possible.

I suppose you're right in that some people will make a set of high-quality instructional and hope that a contest that fits them pops up.

A compromise would be to let people enter 'ibles that are new, ie, less than a month old or something. That wouldn't stop hoarding, but it might soften the blow of publishing something and having a contest come up RIGHT afterward...

There is a BIG (epic) typo in the code behind the link.

Should be "http://www.facebook.com/lecreuset"

I doubt that it will be fixed in time to lead us to the correct place before the final deadline. *sigh*

I LURVE LeCreuset! You're gonna make me have to do something for this you know!

Someone should make an instructable about how to let a mom skip the mother's day brunch so she can have a nap for the first time in ages because she was up all night again with a sick little one and then still had to be awake in the morning for when the other little ones woke up.

I would consider making one, but I'm... so tired...
May 11, 2011. 8:05 AMbarefootbohemian says:
I'm with you on that one, and my "little one" is 28 years old!!!
May 10, 2011. 5:26 AMiminthebathroom says:
Its called on mothers day, the "mother" is treated like a princess, waited on hand and foot, every desire and or wim met by all. Thats how it is in my house, why go to the trouble of getting into a crammed restaurant, complete with everyone elses squeezed in families when you can bring brunch to the mom, on her time. Hope you got your nap!
May 12, 2011. 2:51 PMsupersoftdrink says:
Thanks... I did get a nap :)

Sometimes when people have medically needy little children, it's not possible for any adult in the house to get waited on hand and foot, even for a day ;)

Unfortunately only entries with in the United States are accepted.
May 9, 2011. 11:57 AMjanw says:
Can you put that in the contest info? I did enter my instructables because I was not aware of it.
May 3, 2011. 1:10 PMskyisblu says:
Oh boo. Umm...how come my entry was accepted then?
May 3, 2011. 7:07 PMKaptain Kool says:
That kinda only applies if you win, also, if you can provide a U.S. address you can win your prize. i.e. The editors don't need your country unless you win.
May 4, 2011. 5:45 AMskyisblu says:
Awesome - thanks for the tip - will definitely keep that in mind.
May 5, 2011. 5:23 PMiminthebathroom says:
Living in Canada, I would not be eligible to win, but... perhaps those living outside of the U.S. could set up some sort of trade thing with someone living there. And, their are lots of charities in the U.S. I'm sure - you could go that route. Still get a fun t-shirt adn the year pro membership after all. Win win
May 6, 2011. 4:50 PMsticksnpicks says:
There are plenty of contests for people who are not U.S. residents. Please don't suggest cheating in order to decrease the odds of those who are eligible for this one. I'm a U.S. resident who is not entering this one, but let's keep it fair. Thanks.
May 7, 2011. 6:30 AMiminthebathroom says:
Whoa, totally not what i meant. What I was getting at - #1 Technically those living outside the United States are indeed allowed to enter; they just can't receive prizes from the sponsor due to regulation, taxes and or shipping legality issues. However the Instructable prize pack would still be awarded as it is sent separate from the sponsor. #2 When i referenced (but... perhaps those living outside of the U.S. could set up some sort of trade thing with someone living there.) I was referring to the fact that if a person living outside the United States were to win, the prizes from the sponsor can be sent to a person living in the United States. This person could then on there own send you something in return for the prize, IE the trade, or the person could be a charity - in which case you are just doing something kind. Send it to a orphanage, kitchen that feeds the homeless, that sort of thing. I hope this clarifies things, not meant it to be "cheating" as there really isn't a lot of personal gain for this contest. Perhaps the moderator and/or sponsor could respond to this, with a yay or nay or even just a "you probably shouldn't do this message". Was meaning to be helpful, not decrease peoples odd of winning.
May 7, 2011. 6:44 PMsticksnpicks says:
Thanks for clarifying, and I apologize for not giving you the benefit of the doubt when I misunderstood your suggestion. If non-residents can legally enter and win a contest, I completely agree that there should be a way for them to enjoy the prize or even the satisfaction of knowing that a charity can benefit from their creativity (which is extremely generous of you). In that regard, I hope that you do enter and I wish you the best of luck with this : )
May 7, 2011. 3:01 PMemilygracedavis says:
I found your comment to be a very good and inventive way for international participants to enter and even do something good with the prize.
May 5, 2011. 4:40 PMemilygracedavis says:
Le Creuset is amazing! It would be so cool to have the real deal instead of the cheap knock-off Dutch Oven I could afford :P
May 4, 2011. 5:46 AManatroccolo says:
oh no!
My entry was accepted... I live in Italy...
o come on, I love those pots!
May 4, 2011. 3:00 PMsupersoftdrink says:
and your pictures and food are amazingly lovely; once I saw them, I figured there wasn't much point in me trying to enter... ;)
May 5, 2011. 3:46 AManatroccolo says:
Thank you!!!
I LOVE taking pictures of what I cook as much as cooking it!
:-)
Do enter the competition though, I'd love to see your recipe/photos!
May 4, 2011. 9:32 AMGailC says:
I read on another entry in a different contest that they do accept international entries.
May 4, 2011. 2:58 PMsupersoftdrink says:
I think it depends on the contest. Some of the prizes from sponsors can't easily be shipped to other countries, possibly due to import laws or taxes... I'm not exactly sure.
May 2, 2011. 12:41 AMDrWilson says:
Are international entries accepted?
May 2, 2011. 8:13 PMyokozuna says:
Due to a lack of information indicating otherwise (and the fact that this is asked on nearly every contest) I would think international entries are probably okay. But then again, you know what free advice on the internet is worth...
