Congratulations to the winners in the Dremel contest. Some of the winners there are also entered here for this contest. The rules for this contest say that entries in this contest are not permitted to be winners in other contests. Are those entries now disqualified for this contest? I see them still listed as entries here, even though they won prizes in another contest.
I don't think any of the winners of the dremel contest will be disqualified, especially the runners up. The rules of this contest specify that the instructables can not be "Previously published" or "won a previous award", meaning before the opening of the competition.
To me the rules would not specify "before the opening of the competition," but, before judging begins. I guess the folks at Craftsman will have to decide.
Since my instructable "Revamp a Broken Airsoft gun," is not in this contest yet, and I doubt that it will be, please vote for my other entry, The Duct Tape tool Tote, thank you!
Also, I tried as hard as possible to meet their new deadline but didn't get published untill 12:06am last night so I deleted my new Instructable this morning!

I'm hoping a box cutter, soldering iron and/or Swiss army knife are considered tools for the purpose of this contest? My vitamin Christmas ornament was published just in time...
I also submitted for this contest over the weekend. I got the submission pending email but no further action. perhaps the craftsman folks were off for the weekend?
I got mine in at 11:58. Talk about close. My instructable was how to build a chaise lounge frame ready for upholstery. I hope that I made it. This was my first instructable, please let me know if there is more i need to add.

I published this instructalbe about a week ago, and it hasn't been accepted. I was wondering what is wrong with is so I can change it and re-submit it by tomorrow.
They have to be approved before they're entered. Sometimes it takes a little time, since the staff are really busy and it's currently the weekend. So long as your Instructable qualifies, and it was within the allowed dates, you'll be fine.
I agree with toelle and artificialintelligence. Instructables should level the playing field and only allow sponsors that support Instructable's global contributers.
Either way, the effect on international entries would be the same. If we limited contests to just international, then the localized contests wouldn't happen.
They're great, too. We do our best to make as many contests as open to as many people as possible, but there are many factors that are outside of our control that can limit the participants.
Is it okay if I edit my instructable after the deadline? I am finished with it and unless someone points out a new step I should add, I doubt I would change the content. The only reason I ask this, is because a have a Q and A section where I am putting all of the questions from comments so everyone can see them in an organized manner. If is is against the rules, I can wait until the contest is over to add the questions. Just curious... -AI
I know my opinion doesn't really mean much, but I don't think there is anything wrong with doing that. Anything that improves the site, I can't imagine why they would be against it. The fact that it's in a contest shouldn't change that.

well i would categorize both the pencil and the tape under materials not tools and although the scissors are technically tools i think they meant like hammers power tools and stuff like that.

Official rules states: "may not have won previous awards". Does this mean an entry that wins any type of award from any of the contests that are running concurrently with The Craftsman Tool Contest is out of contention?
Thinking of taking the time to document a most exhilarating project I've just finished and entering this awesome contest. It is my most precious creation yet and people's reaction has been phenomenol. The only thing it seems that entries entered earlier have an unfair advantage in making it to round 2.
Sadly this the 5th contest that's not open to international participants(thats 50%). It seems that the trusly awsome prices are not reserved for us international contestants.
I know shouln't complain as I already won 2 times this year but I makes me feel a bit asif we are not accepted as full members of this community.
I have lots of t-shirts and pro memberships... I figure if I'll be paying to ship a few hundred pounds of tools across the ocean, that the cost of shipping should be compensated. Otherwise, my wife may murder me. Haha.
The decision for whether a contest is international or not is up to the people who are providing the prizes. If it's choice of offering an awesome prize in the U.S. plus non-Quebec Canada or no prize at all, we'll go for the regional contest.

I don't see any restrictions on when the I'ble was published. I would love to re-enter my chess board! At the very least, could we make a video of an old instructable and enter it that way?
Afraid not. One of the main reasons for these contests is to encourage people to post new stuff on the site. Because if old entries where allowed nothing new would be added to the site and all of the great old projects would keep winning and the rest wouldn't stand a chance....
I am pretty sure NOBODY will be as creative as I will be on this one. I've got some Craftsman tools most people don't even know exist. Oh Yeah! peace Maxx
