Does anyone know if there is a kind of candy that is in the shape of stars? I'd love to skip the fondant rolling and cutting step next time.
Everyone has so much talent!
Savoury Cupcake? Wassup? Maybe you and I are different when it comes to cake. Savoury - Mmmmmm. Sweet - Meh.
I think this was such a great creative outlet!
Thanks instructables and great work everyone!
My poke cupcakes
Sweet dreams!
I just got finished making mine, but yours looks so much nicer!
The blueberry is a cute touch. ;)
With apologies to Det. John McClane
I'm not on this site solely for the contests, and I'm certainly not here with the expectation of winning them. However, I joined this site after a friend recommended it to me, and I hoped to use the contests as a way to gain practice for competitions. I suppose that cheaters exist everywhere, but my hope was to find a place where the judging was fair and unbiased, and where the winner was determined on skill more than just popularity.
What bothered me the most was that it seemed the Instructables site administrators knew about the cheating but wouldn't take steps to disqualify the cheater immediately. I know it takes a lot of time to do so, but I would hope that keeping a site of integrity would be worth the time. Another way to handle the problem is to track IP addresses so that people can't have multiple accounts.
These are just my thoughts and opinions and I thank you for giving me a place to voice them.
A lot has happened since my original post, and I now know that the administrators of this site share the same vision I do for Instructables. We all want it to be a fun place to go to learn from one another and a place to help one another become better people! I think I'll stick around for a while. :)
I wish there were more, the mint chocolate ganache was so yummy!
I guess it's just excuse to make more!
I truly wish I could find a website where HONEST people could enter AUTHENTIC (not stolen from someone else's blog or photo album) creations and be judged FAIRLY on them.
I guess I'm living in a butterfly and lollipop-dream filled world...
I hope you all enjoy this site and I wish you the best of luck with this and future contests. I'll be cancelling my account and do not plan to participate in this site again.
Although I myself am looking at the contests and the site in a different way, I have a whole lot to gain by just visiting, searching, and 'ibling, and I really hope you do continue on with this site, for your benefit, as well as others.
Keep up the great work fulfilling your dream as a culinary artist!
I've been logging in to this site, getting inspired, making stuff, and will eventually start posting the half-written instructibles that I have in my "to-do" pile. Inspiring each other to create is what it is all about - just dedicate Taylor Swift's "Mean" to all the jerks out there and keep on creating!
What would gordon ramsey say about your quitting attitude? ;)
I would hate to see talented instructables people leaving...
I like really cream puffs!
You mention difficulty in taking photos because of insufficient lighting indoors... Maybe some of these light boxes projects can be useful for you.

We will miss you if you close your account. Where is your blog, so we can continue to follow you...
I got rated low too for my cupcake project. It is the second instructable I ever posted and I felt sad about it.
But I have been coming to instructables for years and have been inspired by so many different ideas contributed by different people. This site really help me. It is a really nice place, only a few people's immature action make it bad sometimes. There are so many people participating it is hard to make sure everyone is playing the game fair. I am sure instructable is working hard to make this place better every day.
Hopefully the Winners will be announced tomorrow.
Good Luck everyone!!!!!!!!
and...
YAY! everyone else!!! your cupcakes look awesome. and i cant wait to try a few out myself.... right now however am on cake overload so making more cupcakes will have to wait...
sad day
Additional thanks to those of you who sent me notes and comments, encouraging me to stay in the Instructables community. It proved to me that there are still some kind, caring, unselfish people in the world.
there's a bug in ible's system which means they'll have to push the judging period for the Cupcake Contest .
I got a message. Probably you 'll too.
I noticed hers and about 7 others kept shooting to the top of the ratings anytime I refreshed the page for several days so I confronted her on it and, this is the response I got: "I can only rate each entry once so its not like i'm significantly lowering their chances. And anyways ratings don't matter and i'll have you know that I voted 0.5 for every single entry in this contest! And the only reason I made different account and rated a couple of them good is because someone keeps rating those ugly ones high and mine are better! I really really want to win this. I spent forever editing my videos and baking and I really think I deserve this. I think that if people see my entries as some of the top ones then they'll vote for me."
>:-(
I did see 28 people had rated me 0.5 and 28 people had rated her 5*.
Nobody makes something hopping not win something.
Everyone does their best they can.
At least I do it.
:)
Now I feel kinda sad that the only reason my cupcakes had a good rating is because someone was sabotaging the entire contest except for a few entries! :-\
I am so glad that officerlee found out who did it and helped clear out everything...
At first I was thinking that some of his friends must really hate me for rating me so low...
<3 happy cupcaking!!

While I believe we should call out people when they cheat, this is a case of a kid who did work hard on a pretty good video. She did something dumb and mean to try to defend her work (which of course, just hurt it). We've all done thoughtless things, realize it's not constructive, and learn from it.
I hope she continues to create Instructables, especially since it is something she obviously cares a great deal about, but does not focus so much on winning that she attacks other people who care just as much.
Concerning the fake account loop hole itself, I think the easiest way to minimize fraudulent accounts would be to only have ratings/voting functionality for Pro members. No idea what kind of impact that would have on the community, so it may not be a feasible option.
Otherwise, some really specific site monitoring metrics could be used to see new user activity (spike in registration around contest voting phases, vote/rating distribution of new users). The staff may already have something like this but there could be so much to shift through that it is hard to catch as it happens.
Thank you everyone for sharing!
