Instructables and ThinkGeek love a good prank, and in the spirit of the season, we're offering a bounty on the best Instructable that surprises, stymies, or just straight-up annoys your target.

The prank can be simple or complex, involve yarn or a supercomputer, but it must involve some physical object that you make for the prank. Extra points for originality!

The 1st place winner will win a $150 ThinkGeek gift certificate, an Annoy-a-tron 2.0, and a Phantom Keystroker V2. Two second place winners will each receive $50 ThinkGeek gift certificate, an Annoy-a-tron 2.0, and a Phantom Keystroker V2, and 6 runners-up will each win an Instructables prize bundle.

Winners will be determined by the evil ThinkGeek Overlords after a round of user voting.

Every dastardly plotter is a winner in our book, so each entrant will receive a ThinkGeek coupon code for $5 off $25+ or $10 off $40+ orders.

We'd wish you all luck, but it's probably your friends and family that will need it most. BWA HA HA HA.

Multiple entries are accepted and encouraged, although each entrant can only win one prize. International entries are allowed.

HOW IT WORKS

Write an Instructable

Create a new Instructable that fits the guidelines outlined in the contest description above. To be eligible, Instructables must be published between Mar 8, 2010 and Apr 4, 2010 (11:59pm PT).

Enter

Upon publishing your Instructable you'll see checkboxes for open contests. Select April Fools Day Project: Prank Contest. If you have entries currently eligible for entry, it will also show up by clicking "Enter this Contest" on the right side of this page.

Accepting

Entries are accepted by Instructables staff within one business day Monday - Friday. What matters is the submission time, not acceptance time.

Voting

Instructables members can vote for an entry during the contest plus 3 days after the contest closes.

Judging

A panel of judges made up of Instructables staff and respected members of the community rate the finalists. The averages of the ratings determine the winners.

Winners

When the winners are decided they will be announced here on the contest page. All entrants will be notified when this happens.
